Man, Ozuna is a major league hitter. Wonder what it would be like to have one of those on our team.
Yep.Braves with the Sac Fly
Given our inability to hit with RISP, game over?
We can if the runner steals 3rd and home. I’m ok with that. Can the Giants refuse the ghost runner thereby avoiding the RISP jinx?
Great idea! Can the Giants refuse the ghost runner thereby avoiding the RISP jinx?
He has no speed on this team to steal with. Can’t blame BoMel for that.Anyone watch the post game with Kontos and Romo?
They really thought the ghost runner needed to be bunted over to third
especially with the team struggling to knock runners in there are so many ways to score a runner from third with one out
Melvin needs to try a few things
im not a fan of his managing
no base running ,
minimal bunting
almost no hit and runs
miitphuckery in the outfield on overlapping flies
Missed double plays
i can see why the Padres cut him loose
Kapler would have buntedHe has no speed on this team to steal with. Can’t blame BoMel for that.
The errors in the OF are not his fault either. I doubt it is HIS call to play Ramos in center. And even if he wasn’t going to play Ramos in center, who WOULD play center? Yaz is too important in right (arguable a more demanding position in SF).
Bunting is a strategy from the 90s. No way is FZ going to allow bunting to be a major strategy on HIS team.

And he and Chappy actually run (somewhat). But Encarnacion, Ramos, Bailey, Yaz, etc are also invited to this party.Fitzgerald says hi as he runs past you
I do wonder if this team was more aggressive on the bases if the FO was less analytic in philosophy. I would guess that Fz is convinced that the team needs to be conservative for optimizing runs scoredAnd he and Chappy actually run (somewhat). I think running needs to be very situational. You can’t just say, as an always-rule, “Run” or “Don’t run”. And I think analytics can fall into that absolutism. If the manager, player or 1st base coach sees something, then THAT should dictate the run/no run decision more than analytics.I do wonder if this team was more aggressive on the bases if the FO was less analytic in philosophy.
