I don't like any of the lines today.

115 for the Giants is probably the best bet, but I don't like betting the favorite.

6.5 O/U is fair. If I had to bet it, I would take the under.

I am not betting this game.

Well, the O's are a good team, so you can't be too upset, I guess...

Ziti has given up. He doesn't care anymore.

He earned a lot of good-will from me last year, but if he is going to do this, he is giving it all back. If there is ANYONE in the org that the G's want to look at this last 6 weeks, I say give Zito his walking papers. He does not deserve to eat a roster spot if he is going to drop trow on the diamond like this.

Welp we finally found a role for Zito and his love for giving up runs. Late in the game when we are getting blown out and have no chance to come back, he can come in and eat up an inning to make the lead bigger for the opponent but not cost us.

Barry - it may not be too late, but this is your last chance. Learn to throw a knuckleball. You have the quirky personality to make it work. What a story it would be. It can't get any worse, right?

Why would he?

He has already made more money in his career than his great-grand kids can spend and he still has a 7M bulk payment coming in about 2 months.

After watching these last few outings, I do not think he has any intention of pitching past this season.

I'll take that bet. He signs with a club after we give him $7MM to go away. He gets a one year/2-3MM deal.

Hmm. I see where you're coming from here, but if he finishes the season in this latest vein as a really shitty mop-up reliever, it's hard to imagine who would sign him to any sort of guaranteed contract for that kind of money, even in this day and age. It could happen, though. Anything can.

But he doesn't have to play to get the $7mm, correct? I can't see him wanting to play if he thinks he has devolved to a level where he sucks, which he has.

Who knows?

I'm with MaysF on this one, if the Zito we see now is all that's left, why in god's name would we sign him for $2-3 mil to take up a 25 man spot? Isn't our rotation likely to be Bum/Cain/Tim/Gaudin/Vogelsong, and if not Tim then someone else? Why do we keep Zito?

He may go elsewhere if he wants to steal more money but why would we give him anything?

Mmmm ... I didn't get the impression that TZ was talking about the Giants resigning him. I was under the impression that we pay him the 7M to disappear from our roster and let him go wherever he can find a job.
After this year it will be interesting to see if he even considers playing in 2014. If anything drives him in that direction it will be ego. He'd probably like to prove that these past few years have been a horrid abhoration. The problem that he faces though ... maybe they weren't. With a one time chance to redeem himself .... it's a very high gamble in terms of his ego. Sort of like ... let it just fade out and hope that people forget .... or risk ending it in one year of complete flames .... I think that if a contender throws a one year deal to the table .... he won't be able to resist the opportunity ... not sure he'd take the same chance with an offer from .... let's say ... the Astros ....
