2 game losing streak Vs a 3 game winning streak. These two have to hate each other by now, but both will chalk it up to respect and be all nicey nice about it. I will say that I think this is one of the best matchups in the NHL right now.

Good luck, Fishy faces! And...

GO WINGS!!

As long as Ian White doesn't score the game winner, I'm OK with a Sharks letdown on this one... :p

Commodore has been cleared to play; he won't play tonight.
DETROIT -- Detroit Red Wings defenseman Mike Commodore has been cleared to play, but now he must take someone's job.

Commodore has been out since Sept. 28, when he suffered a sprained MCL in a preseason game.

“Commodore's cleared healthy now, he's got to win a spot in the lineup,'' coach Mike Babcock said after today's morning skate. "So the first step's getting healthy, and then you got to take someone's job.''

Commodore won't play tonight against the San Jose Sharks at Joe Louis Arena (7:30, Fox Sports Net Detroit). Aside from an injury to one of their top six defensemen, his best chance of playing is to step in for young Jakub Kindl, who's gotten off to a good start, despite the past two games.

“I just want to have good practices and when the opportunity arises be ready to go,'' Commodore said. "Hopefully we keep playing well, and if it takes a while for that opportunity, then so be it. That's fine. I just need to focus on myself and be ready when the time comes around.''

He said he will wear a knee brace for the rest of the season, possible the remainder of his career.

Babcock said he assumes Jimmy Howard will start both games this weekend (they play at Minnesota on Saturday), but he hasn't decided for sure.

Here is the Red Wings' lineup:

Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Cleary

Filppula-Franzen-Hudler

Bertuzzi-Helm-Eaves

Miller-Abdelkader-Holmstrom

Emmerton-Brunnstrom (healthy scratches)

Lidstrom-White

Kronwall-Stuart

Ericsson-Kindl

Commodore (healthy scratch)

Howard (starting)

Conklin

Here is San Jose's anticipated lineup:

Patrick Marleau-Joe Thornton-Joe Pavelski

Ryane Clowe-Logan Couture-Martin Havlat

Jamie McGinn-Michal Handzus-Benn Ferriero

Brad Winchester-Andrew Desjardins-Andrew Murray

Douglas Murray-Dan Boyle

Marc-Edouard Vlasic-Brent Burns

Jason Demers-Justin Braun

Antti Niemi (starting)

Thomas Greiss

LOL.. God, I hope not.. that pair would get scored on every shift.

I know McLellan used those pairings in the last practice and commented something like "we might use that" or whatever, but I think he's just BS-ing...

How so? Homer fell on Niemi's right pad?

EDIT: I can see the argument that they were both out of the crease, maybe? So contact should have been OK? Oh well.

This guy on NHL Network says it was a bad call as well. Homer got his goal taken away because he's Homer. Kelly Sutherland made the call.
