.401
chicks dig money and with a .401 i could get enough money to get any chick
and no mention of steroids to attach to my name
If im swatting 70 bombs, I've got all the money I'll ever need.
.401 seems like it could remain a tough feat for a long long time. In 20 years who knows, 70 home runs could be the average for a home run champ each year.
.401 in the era of specialist pitchers seems utterly impossible to me.
I also foresee collusion among teams at the end to not give you anything to hit.
But in general, that absolutely would be a bigger deal. Tony Gwynn was about to do it in the strike-shortened season.
"Not only was Gwynn at .394, but he was hitting .423 during the second half of the season and .475 during the month of August. Over his final 14 games, he hit an astounding .439."Even with Gwynn at .394, it would've been a major uphill battle....if the strike hadn't happened and his ABs/game remained constant until the end of the season (where he would've had 617 total ABs), he would've needed to hit .414 in those remaining ABs to end the season at .400
That's how ridiculous it is to get .400....a guy hitting .394 through 2/3 the season would need to hit 20 points higher over the final third.
