Also heard a tip from a pro to take a fish oil before going to bed and another upon rising with a bunch of water. I definitely think it helps.

I take a fish oil daily anyway, but yeah, I believe they help.

I haven't been to any spin-off shows since Garcia died because I just don't think it's the same. I made the conscious decision not to go to Chicago and this morning, I'm wondering if it was the right one.

I was never a fan before Garcia died. I got into them much later in life and have never been to a show

Didn't they do the AS selection last nite?

Do you guys think Houston/Altuve is that much more popular than Cleveland/Kipnis? I'm not one to gripe about AS voting, but Kipnis' season has dwarfed Altuve's thus far.

Anyone who doesn't take fish oil just doesn't care. That's the most basic supplement you can take. Has miraculous benefits. Best thing for cats and dogs and they love the taste on their food.

I just turned 39, so I consider myself pretty luck to have seen The Dead probably a half dozen times or more before he died.

Those were amazing experiences.

The 1st time I heard their music was back in 1971 while still in HS...wasn't really into them all that much...but then in 1973 I saw them live, and that changed everything....been a fan ever since.

Interesting. So you're saying Altuve was selected over Kipnis?

I haven't even checked .... tis why I asked earlier if they did the AS selection last nite. I thought I saw it listed on TV guide while surfing.

Friggen popularity contest and all.

No offense to either of you, but the main reason I avoided them for many years was because of the Deadheads. They struck me as the lowest possible form of American.

One night in '96 I was driving through Virginia late at night. I was scanning through the local radio stations and found one that was in the middle of playing a bootleg. I thought, "wow, this is some good electrified bluegrass." Then the DJ said, "we'll be right back with more Grateful Dead."

Meh..deadheads come in all shapes, colors & sizes, from all walks of life. There are many more good heads, cool heads, than there are the loser idiot riff raff type heads. The same can be said for the devoted fanbase of many other bands.

Yes, Altuve was selected as the 2B starter. I understand that it is a popularity contest and, frankly, I feel it should be - it's an exhibition game for the fans, they should see who they want. I never had issue when Jeter was being selected as the starting shortstop over more worthy players because he was the most popular player on the most popular team. With Altuve, however, I just don't see that side of it, and was wondering if people think the Astros/Altuve are that much more popular than the Indians/Kipnis on a national scale.

A couple weeks ago, Omar F. Infante was to be the starting 2B, so I guess it's possible that general baseball fans started voting for Altuve as he was 2nd in voting, just to get someone past Infante. Maybe?

No offense taken. Regardless of your definition of "Deadhead," I doubt you'd think I fit it if we met in real life.

That said, even by the worst definition of "deadhead" I can reasonably imagine, "lowest possible form of American" seems to be amped-up-female level of melodrama. There are some pretty shitty Americans out there.

I agree. I don't think I'm going too far out on a limb to say that generally speaking, one would rather live in a neighborhood full of Grateful Dead fans than a neighborhood full of, say, Metallica fans.

At least Infante didn't get in....Altuve did win the batting title last year and his team is in first place (one of the biggest stories in the MLB this year). Although I realize his stats last year shouldn't matter this season, I think he sticks out a little more due to his past success. Of course I had Kipnis last year on the my fantasy team and he was hurt/sucked the whole year. That fucker.
