I had a friend and his dad was like 6'7" but he said he was that tall since 8th grade lol. So it just depends, but like you said he need to stop growing now.

After 7'7 or so, they would do a hormonal treatment to stop a person from growing. They've done that to a few people with pituitary and chromosomal issues already.
