Strong 1st by Bum (k's 3)!

Alas, this offense just sucks. 6 LOB already in 3 innings. Posey leaves the bases loaded with a FPOM in the 2nd.
Of course, said FPOM was about 6 ft from a salami sandwich...

Almost doesn't quite count.
You can't be completely results oriented. Especially when criticizing one of the best players in the game.

He saw a pitch he liked (I trust him to identify pitches).
He made GREAT contact on said pitch.

Put him that identical situation with everything but the outcome being the same and I suspect he would have a successful result about 4 or 5 times out of 10.

States evidence in the case of the people v Won Loss record...

Gearin gives up a BABIP single and Okert gives up a bomb, and Gearin takes the loss.

Posey is hitting a career low with RISP. Most years, he has hit over .340 with RISP. This year is .246

Posey is a great Giant, and the leader of the team in many ways. But he is not delivering, even when given the opportunity. His BA is 100 points higher with bases empty. And yeah, results matter.

That the Giants (not just Posey) left 6 men on base in the first three innings matter in a game we lost in the 9th.

Karma for all the inherited runners he's allowed to score.

:behindsofa:
That is the next spot for statisticians to dissect and come up with a good stat for. A simple IR% does not cut it, though. A man on 1st with 2 outs should not equate a man on 3B with no outs.

FPOM irritate me as well. But every FPOM is not the same. And everyone committing FPOMs are not equally guilty.

Posey saw a pitch he liked and he hit it haaaaard. It didn't go out. Oh well.

Agreed. Hard not to be critical, though, when we have seen this for over 164 games now. Same crappy situational hitting (across the entire organization) either means lack of talent, poor coaching, poor approach, or a combo of all three (or more).

Giants have five hits and three walks in the first two innings, and came up with a pathetic two runs. Last April-June, they'd have scored 5-6 on that plethora of baserunners.

Now 28 games out of first, there should be a mercy rule. And yet, we still have to play out the rest of the season. See if we can add to the -100 run difference between runs scored and runs allowed.

Bring us Giancarlo!
