Congrats, MSG! Well done. Your fandom has been rewarded.
We ALL win here...the reward is watching exciting baseball. Even if Yaz struck out, the tension was exquisite.

Yaz's first salami

Good timing!

Man I'm still buzzing...do yourselves a favor and immediately google the Yaz HR. The dugout, the crowd went ape crazy bananas.

Just watched the DigDugDinger.

First, that thing was a BOMB! He killed that thing.

Second, the kayaker was a complete doosh. He over paddled and had to pop it in reverse. While he was paddling backward, the guy with the fishing net perfectly snagged the ball. As he was reeling the ball in, the kayaker tried to steal the ball. He actually reached into the net trying to take the ball. I suspect he was yelled by the people on the boardwalk. I also suspect he is not a cove regular.

To be fair, that only happens vs a trainwreck team like the Dbacks. Vs a good team much less likely

Congrats to those of you who stayed the course. The Yaz bomb was amazing for sure.

I would note that it's not a zero sum game though. It's not that you get to be happy and others have to be upset. They came back from 0-7 in the second. That will happen about once a decade, and I'm glad they did it for you. However, that's not a proposition I want to indulge...too frustrating for me personally. They get behind 0-7 in the second again, I'm always turning it off. Too many other things to do with my time. But seriously, bully for you guys.

Also, Littell was awful and Long was not good either.

Actually, Long wasn’t bad. He walls was wicked in the first cleaning up Littell’s mess, then got 2 outs in the 2nd with some disgusting pitches.

Then, as young players are want to do, he lost it for a bit and got hit around for a bit for a few batters finishing up the 2nd. But he added 2 clean innings afterward that helped “keep the game within reach” for DigDug and Yaz.

Not a GREAT game for the kid, but I am still excited for him. I think he is legit. I just don’t understand why he quit the game. He is only 25 and has filthy stuff.

Agreed, I'm still quite hopeful for Long. And I know there must be some metric which says he's better if he comes in in the second inning, but I think he's starting the game Sunday vs. the Philth. Maybe he'll thrive as a SP

I think the logic is that he doesn’t have to face the part of the order specifically designed to mess with pitcher right out of the gate, so it allows him to ease into the multiple inning run instead of face trouble out of the gate. Let a guy who is going 110% take out the top of the order instead.

It also makes it harder for the other team to set the lineup for matchups.

I am FAR from sold on the concept of the “Opener”, but I see the logical argument.

I heard Kapler wanted Littell to face the righties in the first inning, and then Long could begin the 2nd (if all went well) with the lefties. It didn't work. Would still like to see Long as a starter. He certainly could do not worse than an opener.

I think he's scheduled to start on Sunday.
