There are just soooo many moving parts in the roster construction this week, I am making no assumptions.

The only assumptions I am making are...

Pence up tomorrow
Phalic starts on Sunday
Bum up and starts on Tuesday

That’s it. Hanson coming up is not a given (though he SHOULD be up).

Strick is the closer, but would it be smart to bring in Melancon here? If not to get comfortable in the 9th? Or do you wait for a blowout?

If they dfa him (which would be the alternative, once he has to come off the dl) that would be stupid. They need a backup middle infielder and he was swinging the bat well when he got injured. I think some of you are stuck on the Giants having to carry 13 pitchers. I think they will cut it down to 12. Suarez, Stratton, Blach, Johnson, Moronta, Rodriguez all have options. Only Moronta, Stratton and maybe Rodriguez deserve to stay up.

I think this is a good situation for him. But it needs to be made clear that Strick is the closer. It is HIS job to lose.

Hanson will be up. He is not someone you DFA. He is an asset.
