Game Thread: 6.1 New Month, same batdouchery? 10:40am

Weathers won't go deep into the game, but he is a lefty. Thus, I wouldn't expect anything good from our "hitters" the first two times through the order.

What sucks is they had 8 hits yesterday and still no runs. They also had 2 home run balls taken away yesterday by Miami outfielders.

That was yestrrday and doesn't really highlight our offensive issues. To win a game you need some decent levels of pitching, defense and offense. I actually think it was MSG who referred to it as a 3 legged stool. You need all three legs to win games. On rare occasions you can win with just pitching but you still need to score a few runs. Pitching by itself can't sustain a decent winning streak. Our pitching has been close to stellar this year but our bats are just not producing.
In a prior message it was noted that we were 6-7in our last 13 games. That's not the whole picture though..
On April 15 we were 13-5 ... our pitching looked to be amazing ...and it is ... always was ... but since that time we have played 500 ball. With this level of pitching we should hope to be around 600 ball. We have have quite a few games where we only allowed 3 runs or less and lost. Can't ask for more from the staff. With a little more offence we could have won quite a few of them.
Just not sure how we change oir offensive profile without sacrificing some of our pitching to get it

This is just a long way of saying they are in a hitting slump. And yeah, they are. They need to come out of it and hopefully soon.

Thank god the pitching is so good they didn’t go 2-11 over that stretch

Except that you don't. Pitching and defense will win a ton of games on their own. The offense just can't be awful.
