It has been a rumor in Denver for about 2 weeks now. Would be quite the shock for the Defending Super Bowl Champs to go into the season with 2 QB's that neither have thrown a single pass in a regular season game. Still if they have both shown much more promise than him and have been more consistent in practice like we have been hearing then not worth keeping his salary around. Now I still think there is a good chance that as DC has said a few times that they cut him and then sign him back after week 1 to a lower non-guaranteed contract.

I'm thinking they have their eye on another QB and just waiting for him to get cut. Dump Sanchez and then pickup someone else's castoff.

Have to see. There are a few that I could see them looking at as they would know the Kubiak system. I have a hard time seeing them bring in a guy that has 0 experience with the offense as it would probably take them a couple of months just to learn the system.

See I feel like this is a misrepresentation of my knowledge of college players. It is true during the college season I don't watch a ton of games. I don't have a die hard team that I follow. What I love to do though is after and even some during the season is watch either whole game cuts or individually specialized videos of players such as on Draftbreakdown where they highlight the player and show every single play that player is in the game. So I'm not just seeing the highlights of that player but I am seeing every single snap of almost all of their games and I can watch an entire game of snaps for that player depending on how many snaps they are in in about 15-20 minutes. So I can watch an entire season of one player that I am interested in in just a few hours where you might only see one game in that same time span.

Now it usually takes me a bit longer because I like to pause the videos and say it is a WR that I am watching. I like to see formation for both sides of the ball. I like to see how they do in press coverage compared to off man or zone coverage. I like to watch their footwork as my grandpa was a coach/referee so he and I would spend hours just working on my footwork as a WR. I like to watch how often they catch the ball with their hands compared to body. I like to watch what they do route wise. All those things play into my evaluation of a player. So this isn't just a highlight video like you seem to be hinting at. A little frustrated honestly Randymon with all of our work over the years talking about drafts that you would say I am a highlight video draft guy.

Now the articles for me are more to get to know the personality of the player. I don't care so much what they say about the play on the field as I can see that with my own eyes. I look for articles talking about the background of the player and maybe things past coaches have said or what red flags have shown up for this player and how they handled adversity.
Draftbreakdown.....is that a site you have to pay for or download a app to see? I've been looking for a site for years where I can watch a whole game of certain players and never found any. Just the positive highlight reels. PS... I thought you got most your draft info from Walter football, etc just like me ;)

1) No you do not have to pay for draftbreakdown. Just go to draftbreakdown.com. At the top there is a section called "Videos." When you click on that there is a spot called "Prospects list." They divide it up then on that page by year and by position and tell you how many videos they have of that player. So some of the small school guys are not going to be easy to find as much video on. That is when I have to go scouring a bit more to find something on them. But a guy like Paxton Lynch this last draft they have videos from 3 years ago so you can see his progression throughout his college years and see what he improved on. I have other places I got to watch videos as well that sometimes have better angles especially for the WR position but draftbreakdown is a very easy spot to go to and watch a ton of video on a player.

2) Walterfootball to me just doesn't have much in depth content. They have the mock drafts that never seem to make sense and a little information on each player but just nothing beyond the surface. So while I do go there some I have other sites I like a lot more for getting the in depth info on a player.

Any time. Like many know on here the draft is maybe my favorite time of the year unless the Broncos are in the Super Bowl. I love seeing how teams are built and the ones that are successful compared to the ones that fail. Thankfully the Broncos are some of the most open about their process so we get a little more behind the scenes on things. Still I love watching the tape of these players and just seeing them not just as a team but as an individual and what they can and cannot do. Doesn't mean I am perfect at it by any means. I honestly was not a Roby fan. I watched a kid that I thought was more an athlete than a CB. Thankfully he has worked very hard on developing his technique and he is one of those few that their superior athletic talent combined with superior technical skills to turn them into a star at the position. Still I love trying to get better at what I am seeing and always try to make a list of the players I love and see how they do and see the players I disliked and see how they do and see why I was wrong or right on the player.

So Randy,

You got a 53 man roster projection we can see?
Sorry DC just saw this. I really don't disagree with the final 53 man roster that you and others posted other than who I don't think will make PS. That being Addison or Raymond ( unless what I've posted both times ), they show something in next two wks at return game and if/ when given opportunity to make some plays at wr. Like I stated, I think Posey and Neal make PS before those two unless they squandered their " wr " opportunities in next two wks. I said few days ago that PR return duty would go to Sanders or Norwood and according to CD today, Kubiack said Norwood had job. That doesn't bode well for Addison or Raymond as Posey and Neal have showed better at wr in two preseason games. This game vs Rams and Cards following wk, will decide who makes PS between Posey, Neal, Addison and Raymond. Hope your boy shines at wr if he gets the opps.

Figured since we have cut down to 75 coming up here soon and we have had a bit of time to see these players that we could maybe post what we think the roster will be.

QB--3
Siemian, Lynch, Sanchez

I know in another post I laid out why Sanchez could be cut. I think he is still on this roster though when everything is done.

RB--3
Anderson, Booker, Bibbs
This is where I see the team cutting to save room for others. Hillman just doesn't add anything to special teams and Thompson just doesn't seem like a guy getting many opportunities in games or practice.

FB--1
Andy Janovich
The fact that he can maybe step in as a RB if needed is why I think we only keep 3 RB's.

WR--6
DT, Sanders, Fowler, Latimer, Norwood, Taylor
With keeping Norwood on the roster I think that takes Raymond and Addison off the roster and gives Taylor the better chance of making our final roster. Raymond did not show well in this last game and Addison while he has been showing well at practice from what I understand had just an ok game this past week.

TE--3
Green, Heuerman, Graham
I still think the team only keep 3 TE's with the hope that Krieger-Coble will make it to our practice Squad and can be called up if needed because of injury. So kind of like we are keeping 4 TE's.

OL--8
Okung, Garcia, Paradis, Sambrailo, Stephenson, Schofield, Weems, McGovern
This was a tough group to sort out. I thought about putting Ferentz on this list but I think all his fights just have the team thinking he wouldn't do well if he actually had to play. None of the other guys are a true Center if say Paradis goes down with injury but I just see these being the guys we actually like.

Offense total--24

DL
Wolfe, Williams, Crick, Gotsis, Melton, Kilgo, Winn

LB
Miller, Ware, Marshall, Davis, Ray, Barrett, Nelson, Anderson, Watson
I just think all these guys have earned a roster spot at this point. Plus they will be huge special teams players for us.

CB
Harris, Talib, Roby, Webster, Doss, Nixon
I almost thought about leaving Nixon off the roster but I just think the team loves him and he could be huge as a gunner on special teams.

Safety
Stewart, Ward, Simmons, Parks
Might be the easiest group to pick. Love what we have seen from all 4 of these guys.

Defense total--26

Special Teams

Kicker
McManus

Punter
Colquitt

LS
Casey Kreiter

Well my 53-man roster has changed just a bit after tonight

QB
Siemian and Lynch

Maybe we add Sanchez after the 1st game or bring in a cheaper veteran after cuts are made but I just don't think Sanchez is on this roster

RB
Anderson, Booker, Hillman

Hillman to me has won his job back after the last couple of weeks. He isn't all that expensive and with the money saved by Sanchez not being on the roster and another move later I think Hillman can easily stay

FB
Janovich

Easy

WR
DT, Sanders, Fowler, Latimer, Norwood, Taylor

Same group as before. Have to see how serious Latimer's injury is tomorrow but right now I feel safe in saying these 6 guys.

TE
Green, Heuerman, Phillips, and Krieger-Coble

This is where the extra roster spot goes. with Heuerman having trouble staying healthy I could see us deciding to keep 4 guys. Gives us a nice mix of receiving style guys with blocking style TE's.

OL
Okung, Garcia, Paradis, Sambrailo, Stephenson, Schofield, Weems, McGovern

Same group as before. Really beyond these guys and even some of these guys just not the quality I was hoping this year.

Defensively let's just go with what I already have. I like that group and so far none of them have done anything to make me take them off and really nobody else who I think should be on.

Special Teams

Kicker
McManus

Punter
Dixon

Broncos are doing what they do in playing hard ball. They have pretty much put the ultimatum on Colquitt of take a pay cut or you are gone. Colquitt sounds like he is going to call the bluff and well the Broncos are not one to bluff often. Dixon looked decent tonight so maybe they feel comfortable with the money saved.

LS
Casey Kreiter

So the Broncos save about $6.7 million in cap space with these roster cuts and put that towards signing Sanders long-term. I wouldn't be surprised if these moves were made tomorrow or Monday and then Sanders getting his new deal just a couple of days after that. Get him locked up long-term so he isn't worrying about that during the season and can play freely.

Could we trade Barrett or Watson ? or a high profile player like Ray to a staved pass rush team ?

TE
Green, Heuerman, Phillips, and Krieger-Coble

I would keep Garrett Graham over Phillips at TE, while Graham has been hurt we have Krieger who's been playing really good so we don't need him right away and I saw too many drops last night from Phillips for a guy who has been in the league 8 years. Plus I think Graham offers better upside as a #2 or #3 TE over Phillips.

Just out of curiosity, anyone have a line on Dexter McCoil, SD linebacker ? Guy had monster game today vs Minnesota. 11 tackles, all solo. Wow! Think he had stint in CFL. Don't care if preseason or not, that's amazing. Don't even know how many mins he played. :)

What if we cut Sanchez and not add anybody?

That would be like like only bringing two life vests on a boat with three people, that just had a recent hole in bottom that was filled with gum and seas were unpredictable. Unless of course the one without vest was your mother in-law Denver can't take that chance imo anyway..

Well Graham is heading to the IR so now looks like either Henry Kreiger-Coble or John Phillips will make the final roster.

Well then I hope it's Kreiger-Coble. He looked real good in that SF game.

I wouldn't be shocked if we kept 4 TE's.

Kreiger-Coble also reminds me a bit of Zaire Anderson last year. Guy who deserved to make team, but a guy we can store on the PS and hide for a year or bring up later in year.

I'd agree with that list above. I'd probably have Nixon over Thompson though.

I was thinking the other day we will probably be scanning waivers for TE. I think Kreiger-Coble gets stored on PS but has a future for us.
