Nebraska paid the buyout of Southern Miss head coach, Ellis Johnson, to get the game next year moved to Lincoln.

That means we don't go on the road until October 12th.

We have 2 bye weeks.

No it is the way the calendar goes. Start on August 31, 4 games, bye week at the end of sept, 2 games, bye week middle of oct, then 6 straight games. Conference title games are always first Saturday in December. November 30th is a Saturday next year. So the title games are late.
