I Am Beaming with Pride, Actually..

...Of course my heart always wanted the Kings to repeat. But my head tells me that having to beat St. Louis, San Jose, and Chicago just get into the finals makes repeat an unlikely proposition. Surviving two of those teams is no small feat. Just getting by the Blues (so much better than last year’s version) is something to cheer about, let alone beating the in-state rivals in round 2.

I know the Kings aren't satisfied right now.

But they hadn't lost a playoff series in two years, despite running on duct tapes and fumes at the end.

I love them.

Please also note: the Penguins, Hawks, and Bruins never made it that far as defending champs. That's with Williams, Kopi, Brown, and Doughty hurt.

I wish all series' could be like that one. It had it all. I was kind of rooting for the Kings to go all the way (they already ruined our draft pick by *making* the playoffs...). But ultimately, the Hawks are just too balanced. You look for holes to exploit, and there just aren't any.

Wow, how true was that in Game 5...especially the game/series winner by Kane. High over the outstretched glove. Kings fans kept telling me that was his strong side. I disagreed. Hmmm.
