Yes and no.

People are territorial. Especially professionally. If your boss gave one of your coworkers a project that was clearly in your wheelhouse, you would be like, “WTF?”. WELL, THE 9NT INNING IS strick’s wheelhouse. So giving it to someone else could cause strife in the workplace (clubhouse).

Right now, absolutely. My hope is that in 10 years, baseball gets away from that sort of structure.

But that isn’t baseball specific. That’s my point. That is human nature.

Only because, in this example, there is a structured tier to it, or wheelhouse in your words. And saves have a lot to do with that, and pay scale. If you take away saves, the bullpen becomes one structure as opposed to several. Then guys can pitch in any scenario.

I forgot how much the tomahawk chance drove me insane
I associate it with FSU moreso than the Braves. Of course, I went to Miami for my “college days”, so that explains that.

How about Stratton-Blach-Suarez going on the road and sweeping a 1st-place team... Basically 2 rookies and a 2nd year guy all pitching well. Real impressive

He's probably a AAA guy, and the guy they got form the Braves yesterday is a AA guy. Hacktor and Brown are both hurt
Right now, Jeff Arnold and Ronnie Freeman (another minor league catcher they acquired in season) are listed as the AAA catchers. John Riley was moved up from Augusta to backup Aramis Garcia (where Freeman was previously). That leaves merely two catchers in Augusta (Calabrese and Parra). Not sure why, but the Giants do seem to have a thing about having three catchers at most levels. Right now, all four active affiliates only have two each.

We'll find out right here

edit: I think you may be right!
With Strickland having an awful save (almost blowing it), does this take away an controversy about Melancon stepping back into the closer's role, assuming he's ready, at the end of the month?

Still a ton of time to worry about that. The earliest possible date for Melancon is 5/25

It did cross my mind today, though. I just don't know what to think, Melancon hasn't done anything in a Giants uniform. I guess Boch probably slots him right in there, and moves everyone down a peg
