They could activate Tyler Beede. He's pitched three games but he hasn't gone deep in any of them. Tropeano has looked decent in two starts. I'd suggest they could go with an opener but that's just asking to lose the game.

I don't think Beede will be stretched out for a few weeks. Its either Trop or Kazmir IMO.

I think he's right based on the fact he hasn't been sufficiently stretched out but I thought the 60 day clock starts when the place is placed on the 60 day IL, not when the season starts. Beede was placed on the 60 day on February 24th, which means he should be eligible to come off now, if he was ready. I may be wrong on that rule.

I do know that there is a clock on when he has to be activated. I believe pitchers must be activated no later than 30 days after their rehab assignment starts (unless it has to be shut down), so he has to be activated by June 6th.

I always wondered that myself. Maybe the clock doesn’t start until opening day?

Agreed, but he wouldn't necessitate a 40 man move. I still think it's Kazmir.
