Giants now hitting .211 with RISP

On the season, the Giants have scored 153 runs, and given up 153 runs.

They have had shut down innings 76.2% of the time.

And by my count, Oxy has been on base 15 of his last 23 plate appearances.

Giants improve to 12-6 when committing no errors.

Any idea what the league average is?

Stokes, since you're so good at compliling stats...

Earlier I heard on the radio that Pagan has been on base something like 13 of his last 21 ABs. Can you confirm?

He's an adventure in the outfield, but you gotta say that the Pagan trade (and Melky) have really helped us.

From Carl Steward @ the Merc

Pagan has at least one hit in 30 of the past 31 games. That’s just astounding to me. After a dreadful 3-for-27 start, he is hitting almost .350 since and raised his average over .300 for the first time Saturday, to .304. That’s a hell of a climb from his .111. And he’s been drawing more walks of late and has his on-base percentage over .350 for the season.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about Pagan is that he has adjusted to Bruce Bochy moving him from the leadoff spot to the middle of the order. While certainly not a classic middle-of-the-order hitter, he hasn’t tried to adjust his style to suit the role. He’s simply trying to put the ball in play and either get on base or drive in runs, and it has proved a successful formula. He is the fourth toughest guy in the National League to strike out, averaging just one whiff per 11-plus at-bats, and he has hit into just two double plays. He has just 15 strikeouts in 172 plate appearances — that’s impressive for a guy who couldn’t seem to square up a ball down in Arizona.

And how would a double switch have prevented this?

Sorry, I wasn't clear. They were planning on having him pitch ONLY to the 2 lefties in the next inning (1st & 3rd batters) and prob wouldn't leave him in for the followig inning - so a double switch wouldn't really accomplish anything.

A double switch wouldn't have prevented anything, but it wouldn't have had the normal benefit either (since they were planning on a PH for the pitcher spot anyhow).

That's what I was thinking.

Gotcha. That makes sense. Gives them more options by NOT doing the dbl-switch...
