BTW - This board will only get lively again, when the 49ers lose. That is just our human nature.

Great game for offense and Jimmy G. Why is Kittle on the sideline?? Defense had to cover ground and with a copy, Seattle next week may need to better contain Wilson or spy then Cards again. Tighten up the zones!!

ummm, i'm guessing that nasty-looking direct hit to his knee early in the game might have had something to do with it?

Yes, just going by the eye test, JG is throwing with improved timing. He FINALLY avoided an INT!

To me they have to tighten up the run D first?

Below are the five highest-graded 49ers players on offense against the Cardinals.

  • George Kittle, TE (91.1)
  • Jimmy Garoppolo, QB (85.9)
  • Laken Tomlinson, OG (80.0)
  • Emmanuel Sanders, WR (77.7)
  • Mike Person, OG (74.4)

Below are the five highest-graded 49ers players on defense.

  • D.J. Jones, DT (85.0)
  • DeForest Buckner, DT (77.1)
  • Nick Bosa, DE (74.5)
  • Richard Sherman, CB (72.1)

So encouraging to see Tomlinson, Person, and DJ Jones playing well. I've really liked the play of Jones since last year, so already felt he's a solid player. But seeing 2 of 3 interior O-linemen, wow!

We all know injuries are part of the game, but we always hope to avoid 'season ending' ones. Sigh!

Nothing anyone can do except get the defense ready for the next game. Who knows, maybe Greenlaw "tightens up" the run D?

They're mostly in Nickel so Azeez won't be in much at SAM.....except maybe against Seattle? They like to run too.

Jimmy G doing what Jimmy G can do. Running game is so-so......and the defense only with a few days to prepare for this gimmicky offense with a new piece in Drake....I'm not surprised. First game they turn to Garoppolo and say 'win it' and he does what he pretty much always does.....except throw it almost twice as much.

E. Sanders is IMO, a huge addition. With Kittle aboard, you get just one guy who can play the receiver position, and I think SF is set for the year offensively. The TD that the Niners get at the end of the first half with Sanders....well they don't get if he's not there. It shoulda been a TD but Deebo with a pure drop in the end zone. That woulda been a 3 pointer if anything.

The loss of Alexander is big....an inspirational player who had excelled in pass defense. Shitty, but that's the way she goes. Not too crazy how it ended with some questionable play calling and play period on defense - the 88 yarder to Isabella was nothing but a gift.

Good to see this team can win in any fashion. Shutout by the defense against the Redskins, run it down Carolina's throat, and pass to blow by the Cardinals. Now they can get some guys back and start the second half with three games in a row at home.

Agree rest of the season Defense will need to br strong against the run and pass!! Hopefully minimal injuries not like the Warriors and the players are schemed to our strengths!! Extra CB, Extra DL, Extra S etc. Keep running the ball!!

We've seen a few seasons where it just didn't go our way, this season it is and why we're winning in different ways. Yes, the injury front isn't going our way exactly, but at least we're gonna get back Staley, McGlinchey, Juice, and Witherspoon. ie good we don't have more season ending types.

If we can split with Seattle, we're in good shape for the NFC West. Not guaranteed, but in good shape. Following Seattle is the home field angle with games against Green Bay and New Orleans.

In all honesty, I think SF is set up for a potential sweep of Sea. No guarantees, but this Sea. isn't a 6-2 team....they've only outscored their opponents by a total of 12 points this year, whereas the Niners are something like +130 - playing a lot of similar opponents.

The back side of the schedule is the test....even a 4-4 record puts the Niners in good shape.

Yes, the way it looks now, we could end up sweeping the NFC West. At worse case, i'd take a split with Seattle which means a split with all West teams. This would make it harder for them to make up ground.

We don't have to "win out" and be undefeated, but if we have to lose hopefully its to the right teams. Better to lose to Baltimore and Atlanta, vice Green Bay and New Orleans.

The Rams play the Seahawks one more time (Week 14), so that likely knocks the loser out of the West.
