I picked SF in a close one largely because the 49ers can run it, and I'm not sure if the Broncos can...if they can't and that front 7 can get some licks on Manning and speed up his clock the 49ers have a good shot to get out of there with a win. Kaep brought them back from two possession down in STL...Idk about doing in DEN...gotta keep it close.

If DEN can run it enough to keep the LBs honest...Manning can work the short passing game enough to support the run and keep drives alive...and take a few shots deep...DEN will win.

imo...the team that can run it wins this one.

agree we'll have to run WELL if we expect to win. we can't end up passing too much due to Ware and Miller.

we can pass, Denver doesn't have a great secondary. keep it at 50/50 with run and pass. take time off the clock and we should be ok.

gotta control the clock on offense and the defense has to find a way to get off the field on third downs

Willis' injury may be huge in this game. Borland was awful in pass coverage during the preseason. Manning is just the guy who will figure out exactly how to exploit that.

I thought I heard several of our CBs made the injury report. I know they are supposed to play, but still. Kind of frightening.

I love how people think Manning will break the TD record this week. It's like they forget he is going against an NFC West D and not a AFC West D.

denver by 20 peyton carves this basic defense that wnt take chances up

Sidenote: payton doesn't play well against aggressive Defenses. that is his weakness. Just ask Payton about Seattle.

Defensively, SF must rely on Smith, McDonald and Williams to control the LOS and clamp down on the running game....and the remaining play pass D.

I have already accepted this as a Den victory, but you never know.

before the season we were all hoping the offense helps out the D? Since they haven't done a lot of this so far, this is as good a game as any.

about 40 points might do it.

Two keys to this game. The 49ers have to get pressure on Manning and force him into making a couple of poor throws for INT's. Manning is tough but he can be beat. Have to get after him and knock him down.

49ers also need to control the line of scrimmage on offense. This is the offensive lines game to shine. 49ers have to eat up time on the clock by grinding out yards with the running game. Keep that clock moving and give Manning as little time to drive the ball as possible.

Should be a good one.

49ers Pride.

Not sure you have actually been paying attention to the Broncos if you think this...Last year I would agree with you that they struggled in the Secondary. Part of that though was because of injuries missing 4 of the 5 starters in the secondary at different parts of the season (played mostly out of Nickel so consider the Nickel Corner more of a starter than the 3rd Linebacker). This year though Chris Harris is probably playing better than any corner in the NFL as he is allowing the worst quarterback rating of any corner who has played over 200 snaps this season (some with less have done better but usually need to have close to 300 to be a starter at this point in the season). Aqib Talib was I think a 2nd-team All-Pro Corner last year and he has not disappointed this year for the Broncos. Our Nickel Corner is a rookie named Bradley Roby who is surprisingly playing well and seems to be getting better with each week (only allowed 1 catch for 7 yards last week with 2 passes defensed to go along with that). Our safeties are no slouches either with pro bowl safety TJ Ward added to the mix in the off season and getting Rahim Moore back from injury has helped limit the deep ball once again (one of our biggest issues when he was injured last year).

As a unit we are 4th in yards per attempt, 6th in quarterback rating, and 4th in completion percentage. We are 16th in yards passing given up but that is because most teams this year have been down by a couple of touchdowns heading into the 2nd half and have had to throw to get back into the game so usually not the best indicator of how good or bad a secondary is.

This game seems to have insurmountable odds against SF, injuries , short week, playing @ Mile High, prime time game with everyone anticipating/wanting to see Manning break the TD record, these are the types of games where you see what your team is really made of hopefully they can rise to the occasion and give the Donks a run for their money.

Going to be really difficult to win tonight. That's why that Rams win is huge, because going into the bye 4-3. Will be better then going in 3-4. But if we some how keep the game close or pull a shocker with all our injuries. I don't know how Harbaugh doesn't get coach of the year this season.
