FA from the Vikings, a physical corner fro UVA, 6'2-212 runs a 4.46 and likes to get up into the WR

Then we cannot use him. 49ers believe in the passive defense of back peddle, let them catch it and then tackle them.

@PFF_Jeff: Chris Cook allowed 9 TDs (T-1st among CBs) in coverage last year, with no interceptions. 140.3 QB rating allowed was 2nd highest among CBs.
RT by Matt Barrows

And he was tied for 1st for last place amongst comers in the nfl last year. Maybe a 1 year deal for the minimum?

This can be an ok move. It would add size.

Any update on who the 49ers are looking at in the draft.

His measurables are intriguing, but he has some off-field baggage and hasn't exactly performed well to this point in the NFL. Maybe Ed Donatell can make him right?

A little bit of arrogance leads to steals. A lot of it leads to flops. So if he's good and just not used well by all those who tried, that's a little arrogance, not a lot. If he was terrible and used in the best way but still the worst, that's a lot.

Baalke is with me every step of the way except when it comes to SSs and CBs it seems.

Maybe I should switch "a little arrogance" to confidence and "a lot of arrogance" to arrogance. I just thought that arrogance in football is different than arrogance in other realms of the world.

Why do u say that about Safety picks. Didn't he bring in Whitner and didn't he draft Reid. Thats a good tack record for me. Also didn't he bring in Rogers who made it to the pro bowl.

I don't particularly like this move if it happens, but I will give Baalke the benefit of doubt. I thought Carlos Rogers was a complete bust when he was in Washington, and somehow Rogers turned his career around with us. Maybe Cook can do the same; he is talented enough to do it.

Cook would probably come very cheap and might not even make the team so I wouldn't get worked up about this one.
I'm still hoping we land Carroll.

It would depend entirely on the contract. For a low salary, what the hell? Give him a shot.

As someone living in MN, I have seen him quite a bit. He's bad. If it's cheap, I guess it's fine but I don't see him making the team. Plus I believe he's had some off the field issues.

That's a mild way of putting it!

I meant strong safety specifically. The year Rogers was brought to the team, up to his last deal I was all board. Also was for re-signing Brock this year, though I wasn't happy he was on the team at the beginning of the year, he showed no sign of potential up until now.

Eric Wright
Chris Culliver
Tarrell Brown
Chris Cook
Not a fan of them.
