Great to have Aldon Smith back. And the Seahawks lost. Go Lions!

They are without a doubt a defense led team. So was Seattle last year...

Agreed! great to get two wins on a tough road trip. but the cards are smacking the lions right now, hopefully that will change. we need a break in the division if we have any hope to win the West.

Personally I think there is a lot of football left and Palmers injury opens a little window

We need to worry about a 6 seed rather than the division at this point. Palmer went down before and they didn't skip a beat

Well, Manning has 2 rings so maybe you don't need to be smart at QB to win a Super Bowl

:noidea:

I don't know a whole lot about the 49ers but I know poor quarterback play when I see it.

true, and i think the talent that team has and it doesnt really matter who is at QB. but at this point, back 3 games, I dont think with Drew Stanton at QB a melt down is out of the question.

And they don't miss him (yet) today either vs a good team.

AZ probably one of this year's surprise teams. The NFL has so much parity that each year 2-3 teams do well that no one expected and 2-3 do way worse than expected.

The up surprises this year probably Cleveland first and foremost. Arizona was pretty good last year so not a huge surprise but they may be really good now. Miami kind of surprising, Dallas too.

The down 'surprises' are Chicago first, then perhaps New Orleans and even Seattle (they were supposed to wreck shop this year, and they look just good).

Of note: the Niners have by far the toughest strength of schedule so far among NFC contenders.

Agreed. The Jimmie Ward pick aside, whomever is picking the defensive players in the draft certainly seems to know what he is doing.

My point was, you apparently think Manning is even worse...and he has 2 rings.

Aren't you a Bills fan anyway?

Agreed. Cleveland and Miami are playing some good football! I think the AFC north is the best division right now. With Seattle expecting to repeat, they have to be the biggest disappointment.

The AFC in general is a heck of a scrum, 12 teams all contending for 6 playoff spots. Will likely go down to the final week, with tiebreakers being important.

In the NFC it's 8 chasing 6 spots. (rather 7 chasing 5 spots, with 3 teams that could win the NFC South with 7 wins)

I am. Too much history there for me to give that up. But living back in the Bay Area again, I'm trying to root for the Niners.

I was not able to watch the game (not on in SD) and I did not follow this thread.

How can we have had 5 TOs and only score 16 points? Was the NY D inspired, or was the offense inept?

Actual question. Like I said, I was unable to watch.

I was only able to watch on redzone channel, but yeah the offense stunk it up again. Seems to be an ongoing theme. At least we got the W.

Offense was inept. It's not a strength of the team. Also a few of the TOs were deep in SF territory.
