Second part first.....yes, it is good to be talking real baseball again. Sure, it's going to be a wacky season, but it's more fun than no season at all.

If I had to nit-pick on any surprise of sorts (and it's really not much of a complaint), I would like to have seen Jonathan Stiever make the list. He's the kid who last year jumped more than 20 spots in our top prospects list. Any time a player makes that kind of a leap in one season, it definitely intrigues me. They have some guy named Drew Anderson on the roster - I have no clue who he is, other than I believe he came up in the Phillies organization. I would have liked to see those names swapped. But aside from that, you're right, no real surprises at all.

I didn't read anything specific. My guess is they want a smaller number to get as much work in with their key players as possible, being this summer version of ST is only about three weeks in length. The total number does max out at 60 tho.

From what I read - the other members of the taxi squad will be announced in mid-july - and the cut down players and the other announced players will form the non-active roster player pool.
