I saw the Giants are what....6-17 in their last 23 games....with this pitching it's tough to believe...

But it just highlights...again...how putrid the offense has been.

There have been a handful of pitching shitstorms in that sample, too.

Mostly, though, it's been the awful hitting.

I have to admit....when the Astros took the lead yesterday I thought the Giants were done. Last year I never would have done that...

2nd worst in the entire league. Putrid yes! However...

We get Beltran back tomorrow hopefully which will be a big boost I think. And looking a little further out if Huff and Ross (and maybe even Torres (I'm not holding my breath with him)) can get it going even just at 75% of what they provided lat year we have enough offense to yet again contend somehow despite it all.

I wouldn't expect much out of Torres or Ross. Huff I'm still holding out some hope for, and Belt could very well give us a boost down the stretch. Beltran, Kepp, and Pablo need one more legit bat to step up.

Yes it seems to have been a mistake to think Torres could sustain his improved form as Giant - this year is much more like his career numbers - looks like a really nice guy though, so it is easy to pull for him, over say Rowand and Zito.

A waiver pick up of CF/Lead off guy would be a good idea me thinks.

Nate the Great Schierhitz!!!! He may not be your prototypical CF right now, but he will be after teams see how successful he is out there. When Beltran comes back I'd like to see an outfield of :

RF Beltran
CF Nate the Great
LF Belt

1 game out, riding a big winning streak, lets do it

The shame of it is, Zito seems like a really nice guy too. Flaky, but a good guy, and really solid on his charitable side. I've always rooted for that guy and I feel bad that 'The Contract' has destroyed his rep and maybe even his talent.

Yep...hard to dislike the guy. And frankly, it's not his fault that the Giants threw bags of money at him. I would be happy if he would just carry his weight as a 4/5 starter....but he does what he's done since he came back from his injury...look good for a couple starts, and then crap the bed like a big dog...

I doubt there is a more hittable pitcher than Zito when he is not completely on his game. I know I'm not the only one who...even when Zito is putting up zeros...is holding his breath on each pitch thrown wondering if it's going to be blasted...

Carlos has played CF before, not sure Nate has...

I'm cool with that, just hope Ross is the odd man out but it is more likely to be Belt though bc I think Noggin would be skeptical starting so many LH hitters.

Gp said Nate played CF during the Olympics or something.

The big question, and I have been wearing the blinders on this so far...

Is Beltran WILLING to play anywhere but RF?

He comes over and reportedly will only play RF. He is hurt, but able to swing right handed, but refuses because "I am a switch hitter. That is not who I am."

I am willing to refrain from the hating for a while, but the seeds have been planted.

He played CF as recently as last year so it not like he'd had to make a big change like when he was moved to RF. Then again he may be opposed to change mid season all together.

Beltran is a Giant and will be for the rest of the year. I don't give two shits about what Sabean had to agree to in order to get Beltran to waive his no-trade clause. If Noggin puts him into the lineup and writes CF next to his name, he sure as shit better trot his ass out to center and play hard for nine full innings.

If he even HINTS at pulling a Posada, I hope that Wilson, Ross and Co take him into the back room and teach him a thing or two about teamwork.

I wouldn't want Wilson to hurt his elbow more.

How about having Noggin give him a head butt?

Or sic Lou Seal on him?

That would be awesome.

I was just thinking that Ross could punch Brittle-tran a few times in the gut and then throw him into Wilson's beard. Let the ninjas take care of him after that.

Beltran moved to right because his knee is pretty much bone one bone. You can see the hulking brace that he wears through his pant leg.

He even said before he was traded that CF was not an option for him. No idea if Nate can do it, but maybe put him in CF?

If Belt stays hot, we can't not have his bat in the line up.

I would rather have Nate in CF than Britte-tran anyway. But my point is that if Bochy puts him into the lineup, he'd better play without complaint.

The best lineup from here out would be:

LF - Belt (Ross)
CF - Schierholtz (Torres/Ross)
RF - Beltran (Schierholtz/Ross)

Rowand does not deserve to play at all - for any reason. I don't care there are only two healthy OF left on the roster. I'd sooner put Cain in the OF. He's got a better bat.

Nate played CF in the WBC. Obviously thats not the mlb, but he's a plus defender. He's faster than Ross, so I can't imagine the drop off being that significant.

Either way, Beltran in Cf is not good.

Rowand may get some starts vs lefties because that's how they roll. At Belt's expense.
