He's a successful coach, but he doesn't have near the pedigree of Saban or Meyer. I don't like either OSU or Michigan, or Bama for that matter, so I'll gladly eat my crow if need be.
I think you are confusing resume with pedigree. I'm thinking being a starting QB in college, playing 16 years in the NFL, coaching 6 more years in the NFL, 9 years as a head coach in college and 8 years as an assistant in college (for his dad, while he played in the NFL) is quite a pedigree.
