I have never been a big Ishikawa guy (That's no secret to anyone who reads my posts). But I do have to say that I am surprised that no one grabbed him off waivers. I find it hard to believe that no one has room for a great glove and a decent LH bat off the bench in a spot-starting or PH role.

I was surprised too, but after all 1B is the least important position to have a + defender. Most guys on your bench that can't hit well consistently are speedsters and/or OF and middle infield defensive whizzes.

I am shocked Ishi cleared waivers. He was a VERY successful PH last season. I thought Seattle would have jumped on him right away, just to offer a little push to Smoak, if nothing else.

I guess he is now officially a AAAA guy.

Tampa could use him too, they got no offense now and Pena no longer at 1B.
