Sam Long

0-0, 0.00 ERA, 5 SO

Longman gets the start again. Maybe he can go two this time. You've got to think Junis is slotted behind him again, so maybe we can get another clean six innings from those two before turning the ball over to FYWW.

Vegas those vegasers.

6-3 good guys.

He won’t be asked to give 5. He MIGHT be asked for 2. Maybe.

I can see doing this (using the entire bullpen for one game) on an emergency basis.

But to keep this up as a longer term strategy, assume a 5 game cycle. That's 45 innings, on average. 4 games by starters that average 5 innings (asking 6 on average equates to 190 innings a year - not that many starters do that nowadays, much less four on the same team). That leaves 25 innings for 9 relievers, effectively 3 innings each in the five game cycle. That's 96 innings and 96 appearances in a year, for all 9 guys.

That doesn't seem sustainable as a long term strategy. Even if it's one 2 inning game, and one 1 inning game per 5 game cycle, that's still 96 innings and 64 appearances. That's not sustainable.

But what do I know. The game is ever-evolving.

The blueboys lost again, so we can add to our lead tonight.

That’s my thought as well.

But this is an entirely different game. The old rules don’t apply anymore.

That was never going to happen. He went one inning two days ago. Moreover, we've started the game giving up a meatball HR and an error on Craw...no bueno.

Alrighty then.

0-1 bad guys and Long steps up.

Let's get him some runs, boys.

Another CLOSE review that goes against the Giants. This was probably the worst of the bunch (not in importance, but in it just being a bad call).

K&K didn’t even comment. I wonder if they have been instructed/asked not to bitch about then at this point?

We had a “top” prospect a few years ago named “Blackburn”, didn’t we?

What was his name?

Doval just hasn’t found “it” yet. His numbers aren’t horrible, but he doesn’t give any confidence when he is on the bump.
