You know it is early in the season when the team's catcher is tied for the lead in stolen bases among the team.

Freakin' Goldschmidt! Is it just an ego thing that prevents Bochy from issuing the free pass when he is up in critical at-bats?

Seriously, why even throw the guy a pitch? Just issue the auto-base.

I mentioned the other day that I put it at about 65% he makes it through the season.

I am thinking those odds may be flipped now. Hopefully we are able to dump his contract on someone, though...

Dyson is injured, or washed, or both.

Ugh.

Osich hasn't looked good so far but today's outing wasn't that bad. However, I don't know what Marte's hit looked liked but the other outs were on the ground. If only he didn't go the typical route with the inherited runner.

Suarez' start looked better than Beede in terms of control but 3 of the 4 hits he gave were for extra bases and another 7 outs were fly balls. I would like to see him pitch at AT&T.

Remember when AZ used to walk Teh Lord all the time? Even with the bases loaded? Why even pitch to Goldy? Why?

And why let Suarez begin the 6th? Noggin reverts to his old ways, let the starter get in trouble and let the pen bail him out. Why not give the pen a clean 6th-9th?

The Giants pitch way too often to Arenado as well

While I am not thrilled with the Giants' start to the season, I probably should be.

Given that MadBum and Scrabble are injured, and not Cueto, and Melancon, and Smith, and given that we opened in LA and have played LA 7 times and AZ three times (two of the projected winners of the NL West), we have done OK.

Better than OK. I wasn't expecting a 9-3 start, but I was more or less expecting a 3-9 start. Given that we are 5-6, and have been (mostly) competitive (in spite of all the kvetching about RISP and walks and IR, etc), this team has shown some resilience and grit.

See, the Giants are fun! They win more often than we expect and still give us plenty to complain about!

According to STATS LLC, Tuesday and Wednesday marked only the second time in the San Francisco era in which the Giants started pitchers making their Major League debuts on back-to-back days. Tyler Beede and Suarez join Bob Knepper and Frank Riccelli, who accomplished the feat Sept. 10-11, 1976, against the Reds.
