The rotation is not elite, but it is above average IMO. Some of that might be the parks they've pitched in so far.

Hope you're right. Although, they've pitched in Latrine, Petco, and Oracle. Not exactly bandboxes.

I wish I'd mentioned the parks they pitched in before you corrected me....

Without actually looking at the other rotations, I would guess that ours is somewhere in the top 10 range MLB-wide. As you say, not elite, but certainly competitive.

They were mentioning on the radio that this bully has thrown the fewest pitches in the NL. While not a 100% translation, that does lend itself to a strong starting rotation.

On the bright side, the Giants have not been swept yet, filling the quota of one win per series.

That should guarantee at least a 54 win season!

I don't quite know what to do with that stat, but I can think of a few mitigating factors:
1. Road losses mean no bottom of the ninth.
2. No extra inning games so far.
3. SSS - let's see where that stat is in June.

I do think the bullpen is elite, and apparently pretty efficient. However, the starters are by no means pitching deep into the games.

After another rousing game of anemic offense, here is the list of the top 5 hitters on the roster:

Madison Bumgarner - .333/.333/.833 in 6 ABs. He needs to start batting more often. A LOT more often.
Pablo Sandoval - .357/.357/.643 in 14 ABs. And we wanted him cut in spring training. When does he get more starts at 3rd?
Tyler Austin - .375/.500/.375 in 8 ABs. So far, he's doing the opposite of his career numbers.
Brandon Belt - .209/.292/.442 in 43 ABs. I get his numbers aren't good, but how does playing Posey at 1st base make this awful lineup any better?
Brandon Crawford - .289/.333/.333 in 45 ABs. Not bad numbers from a defensive whiz. Pretty sad that they get him on this list.

Could also be a league-wide shift towards shorter leashes for starters, two-times through the order. Boch is still behind in this regard.
