Definitely one of the most inspirational American sports moments. I can't imagine some of the former Soviet players enjoy watching that clip, but I do. The pure heart and joy of competition coming from the American amateurs in that game was awesome.

Very true. But in essence, this was the Gold game. I mean, obviously the let down of losing in the Gold game after this win would've been horrendous, but they'd still have this win.

Stands today as one of the stupids strategic moves in the history of professional hockey. Tretiak is one of the all-time greats. Obviously he thought it was impossible to lose. They all did.

As much as I love the pros in the Olympics, I'd like to see them switch back to the amateurs. No risk of losing superstar NHLers to injury, and they will all be playing to impress.

It'd be fun...but Russia would have an advantage. If the NHL pulls out it's guaranteed the KHL stays in so they can draw more Russian talent that wants to play for their country. Basically, the US would be on the sour end of that deal.

According to several people on the team, Brooks walked in before the Finland game and said "You lose this one, you will take it to your fucking grave".

Then he walked to the door, paused, turned back to the room and said "YOUR FUCKING GRAVE!"

And walked out.
