No but they did show signs of maybe one day being good right? You could see the talent they had.

Pretty much every player that gets drafted show signs of "maybe" being good one day or else they wouldn't have been drafted. None of the players I listed showed much for "it" factor day one like you said. Favre specifically was an absolute mess in Atlanta. If GB today traded a 1st round pick for any player that looked like Favre did day one you'd be beside yourself with joy.

dude, you are saying something that I don't believe you on. Most people thought Aaron Rodgers sucked after his first year. You are among the few who didn't think Aaron Rodgers sucked? Cause I sure did. So did almost every single Packer fan. You really didnt?

I never heard of or thought about AR until he started playing.

The only team I follow close enough to say is my own team. So no Bear player has ever fooled me or made me change my mind. What I see in the first few games is how it turns out in the long run. Injury's to players changes things. There have been players I thought would be good but injury's derailed that. But never once did a (judged) bad player get better 1, 2 or 3 years later.

Sorry but that doesn't really mean much when you think every Bears player is automatically a stud nomatter how they look.

Mark Anderson didn't fool you? Can't really chalk that one up to injuries. How about Ogunleye? Alonzo Spellman? Muhsin Mohammed? What did you think of Brandon Lloyd? Orlando Pace? Bryan Cox? Thomas Smith? What did you think about Cedric Benson?

Yeah, Noon, I'm really not buying it.

Which one of these guys sucked as rookies then got better 3 years down the road? None of these examples sucked then got better after a few years in the league. None of these guys started off as great rookies then stunk 3 years later. Anderson was the exception, but I was never a big fan of his.

No Steve, that is not how I am. I hated most of our last 20 drafts. All I'm saying is ( it is pretty clear, pretty early if a player is going to pan out or not). I'm not sure why this seems to be upsetting to anyone.

How about Cade McNown?
Were talking about players that stunk as rookies and magically got better 3 years later, does Cade fit that mold?? But that is a good example, he stunk and nothing changed 3 years later. Did not need to wait 3 years to know. We all knew right away.

Jerry Angelo drafted a lot of guys that were terrible their first year and didn't improve.

Honestly I've seen the 3 years thing more often in reference to judging a draft class as a whole. It also doesn't necessarily mean a guy that sucks is going to become great it means you are giving a player/players time to make an impact. Even if a player is a good pick he might be behind a top level veteran on the depth chart or changing positions. The 3 years thing is giving them time to overcome those obstacles and have an impact.

I meant that somewhat jokingly but you did say last year that Chicago was getting 2 stud lineman back in Carimi and Williams.

There's literally a TON of examples of guys who took a while to develop. Most of them, actually.

I get that but what I'm saying is you can see right away if said player has the talent to improve.

Noon, there have been HUNDREDS of guys whose first year play had no relevance to their career trajectory. I don't even know where to begin with a list like this. Aaron Rodgers? Mark Anderson? DeSean Jackson? Santonio Holmes? Sidney Rice? Man, those are just first thoughts, I'm sure I could sit down and come up with thousands of examples - going in either direction - of guys whose first years look nothing like the rest.

Aaron Rodgers was a back-up to no.4.I never thought anything about him.
But i don`t think he got good cause he sucked from the begining,it`s just he didn`t have the oppurtunity.
Mark Anderson?........He was just an ok player.Never was very good except maybe one season for us.
Holems.........meh,just an ok player too.
Sid Rice?..ONE great season for the Vikes in his 3rd season.Otherwise he`s been hurt or just plain sucked.

And as far as telling what they are gonna be like after three years,I think I can tell after watching them for a whole season.............mcClellin,he will be put on waivers next season.i don`t think he has it.

Wow noonjoe, your arrogance shows no limits. " I can tell in the first 20 minutes if a player will be any good or not. And no player has ever fooled me." I bet the NFL GM's are beating your door down wanting you to help them select a player.

Drew Brees was pretty bad his first two year. Same with CJ Spiller, Stevie Johnson didnt get it for like 5 years.Steve Young and to a lesser extent Vinny Testeverde and Dilfer.

You are proving my point. Anderson's good year? His first. Sidney Rice's great first year? Also, his first. Rodgers did suck when he had his chances, he wasn't just so-so, he was terrible.
