Well ... if Buck is insistent on playing that overpaid walk master, the offense will need to put up some major run support. He's guaranteed to walk at least 3-5 batters within 5 innings -- which will probably result in several runs the Jays shouldn't be getting.

Hopefully, he strikes out more than he walks.

Hmmm ... then again, maybe ol' Ubaldo will regain his form from last fall?

Well, so far he has walked 4 through 2 innings. He's going to crush your prediction. Granted, he did get out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the 2nd.

As of now, has 4 walks through 2 innings, including 3 in the 2nd. On top of that, fails to back up Hundley on a play at the plate, letting the ball go to the backstop and runners to advance.

Look, I know they have a lot of money invested in him, but if they have to keep him, just let him be the world's highest paid janitor or something. At least then, we won't be losing games because he can't throw strikes.

This is just plain hard to watch. Hope the bats stay hot tonight.

thats why you take him ouy now with a lead

I agree. TJ was already warming up in the top of the 2nd, I'm betting he comes in now.

edit: Nope, Jimenez is still in.

I'd leave Ubaldo in until another BlowJay reaches base.

Comes out in the third, 9 pitches, 3 outs (grounder to first and two fly balls to Jones). Why can't he replicate that in all his innings?

Looks like I was right on the money. So far, he's walked 4 through 4 innings -- and 2 of those walks scored. This guy is so predictable. If the Birds want to clinch, tonight ... a little more run support, would be nice. Top of the 5th and Jimenez is still in. :L

I will say he has looked really solid in the third and fourth.

While he did struggle the first 2 innings, he has looked great in the 3rd, 4th and 5th, retiring 10 in a row. He is doing exactly what we needed, to eat innings and save our rotation.

BTW, I miss MASN. I'm streaming the game and I'm stuck watching the Blue Jay network.

6 strikeouts, 4 walks in 5 -- not bad, but 2 of those walks scored. If the Bird's bats were cold, those 2 runs could have been major trouble. Buck pulling him after he settled down was wise. It's possible he might have gotten a little of that form from last fall kicking in, but it's not worth the risk to find out, tonight.

I hope the rest of the BP isn't asleep.
