The New Orleans Pelicans have reached agreement on a three-way deal with Sacramento and Portland to acquire guard Tyreke Evans, league sources told Yahoo! Sports

As part of a sign-and-trade arrangement, Evans will come to the Pelicans on a four-year, $44 million contract. New Orleans will send guard Greivis Vasquez to the Kings and center Robin Lopez to the Trail Blazers, sources said.

Portland will send future draft considerations and cash in the deal, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The trade came after free-agent point guard Jose Calderon rejected a contract offer from the Kings, league sources said. The Kings had hoped to sign Calderon and trade Vasquez to another team.

The threat of a four-year, $44 million offer sheet to Evans, a restricted free agent, prompted New Orleans and Sacramento to work out an agreement.

The deal can't be made official until July 10.

Evans, 23, averaged 15.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists for the Kings last season.

Vasquez was one of the NBA's most improved players last season, a fast-rising playmaker who averaged 13.9 points and nine assists for the Pelicans. He has a chance to become the Kings' starting point guard.

The Blazers needed a veteran center to plug into the lineup, and Lopez gives them a solid defender and rim protector. He has two years and $11 million left on an affordable contract.

I like Vasquez going to Sac Town because they never really had a true PG and now Aldridge can move back to PF with Lopez in Portland

Isaiah Thomas is pretty good, but Keith Smart keeps the handcuffs on him. Thomas is better than Vasquez IMO.

Still though, I would much prefer to have Vasquez over Evans considering that Vasquez's contract is about 10% what Reke makes.

Keith Smart is no longer the head coach, it's Mike Malone the Warriors top assistant taking over in Sac. He pretty much did all the X's and O's for my dubs the past two seasons I think he'll be a good coach.

Oh yeah no problem there was so many coaches getting canned this off season it was hard to keep track on who went where just wanted to put it out there that Mr. Smart is not coaching any longer in Sac. I thought he got a raw deal with my Warriors and wanted to see him do well but he had his hands full with Cousins.

Pretty sad state of affairs for Sacramento, no Free agents worth noting will agree to sign there.....

Well, he has never done a good job managing rotations, especially with guards. Didn't he continuously hold Curry back while he was in GS? He certainly screwed up in Sacto. He gave way too many minutes to guys like John Salmons and Aaron Brooks without every really establishing any sort of rotation.

Anyhow, looks like the Warriors have a stud coach now. I am very impressed with Marc Jackson.

Good deal for Portland, they have been looking for a starting center until Meyers gets his wings under him.

Could this possibly be good for everyone but the Pelicans?

I guess this means that the Blazers will not try to get Asik if Howard ends up in Houston.

I like this for New Orleans. Davis/Evans/Holiday is a talented nucleus and more importantly, these are high-character guys they are loading up on. Now they just need to find some way to build up Eric Gordon's trade value.

Probably not. Portland should contend for a playoffs spot this season if they're able to stay healthy.

I agree, we might not make bring in a bigish name this offseason, but we did address our depth issues. Portland had a decent starting five last year, but our bench was inexperienced and lacking in talent.

I don't know man. Those are 3 guards that need they ball in their hands to be successful. Gordon is the only shooter and he is not going to play 82. I think they win 35 games next year, give or take. I don't think the chemistry will click.

I think this was a really good deal for NO. This gives them depth now, possibly brining Jrue or Evans off the bench to go with Rivers. If say start Jrue and Gordon, have Evans be your 6th man with Rivers. If you wanna play small, put Evans at the 3 with Jrue and Gordon. I really like Evans and this fit.

Oh, Jrue can shoot. That's not his problem, turnovers are. Tyreke's presence as a ballhandler will take pressure of him. I also firmly believe Anthony Davis is the next Kevin Garnett-like superstar. These moves were necessary for them. With this kind of talent, it's all but assured they won't be like the Raptors and Pistons who suck every year yet are stuck with mediocre draft positions.

From what I heard Tyreke will be ok with playing a 6th man role
