2 per year. the two games when the Dubs come to Phoenix. The Dubs built their team through astute drafting and building a cohesive team. That's what I admire.
It's ok to admire one strategy WITHOUT bad mouthing another. Having the ability to take different paths to get to a mutual goal is what's great about competition.

I disagree. Competition is about coming out on top when everyone has an equal chance at success. When money and free agency came into effect, that went out the window.

Everyone does have an equal chance. The rules regarding player acquisitions are the same for all teams and the cap is the same for all teams. If teams choose not to make use of everything that's available, that's on them.

Fair enough. We just disagree. Money and location plays too much of a part in the ability of a team to acquire the best players.

Teams are allowed to spend the same amount of money though. If a team won't spend the money, that's on their ownership and the fans should complain. If that doesn't work, then they should stop attending games, etc. until ownership improves or sells the team. A large part of the reason that the Lakers have generally always had to pay the luxury tax is because us Lakers fans will bitch like PMSing teenage girls if we don't have a competitive team for more than a couple of seasons.

If the problem is fan support, then they should move the team to a city that will support them.

Bottom line, with the NBA's popularity, revenue sharing, tv deals and teams getting money from luxury tax on teams that are over the cap...money is no longer a valid excuse for not putting together a competitive team.

Location isn't as big a deal anymore either because of the internet, faster, more comfortable modes of travel and with the money these guys make, they can afford off-season homes wherever they want them.

Location still helps, but not nearly as much as it used to. That's why we are seeing more "small market" teams becoming contenders.

Miami offense is looking like it did at the end of game 5. They have to do something other than Wade dribbling down the clock
