I have it recorded. I thought his worst defense was in the first 3 minutes against the Walker/Zeller P&R.

Noted.
I'll take Whiteside, you can have all the others you named.

I don't think Whiteside is a great man to man defender. Never thought he was. He is a rim protector. When he's in the game, teams are scared to come in the lane and if they do then they usually rush their shots. I think most players are horrible defenders with 2 quick fouls. The difference is when you pick up 2 fouls as a PG/SG/SF, you can hide that player most of the time and put him on some one dimensional offensive player who won't do much except hit a a spot up 3. As a Center as big as Whiteside, you can't hide him. He must guard Jefferson. There's no way around it. Miami is not going to put him on Batum or Marvin Williams and have Deng guarding Jefferson.

Since @WiggyRuss was so concerned about Hassan losing his cool in the playoffs....

MIAMI — All of the diversions that people worry about with Hassan Whiteside were working against him Wednesday as he stepped to his first true test of the postseason.

From the first minutes, Charlotte’s Cody Zeller prodded him with shoves in the back, extracurricular body bumps and an egregious flop that saddled him with early foul trouble. Whiteside rode that out only to find himself drowning against crafty big man Al Jefferson’s arsenal of post moves, an exasperating experience for a man who two days earlier ranted about finishing merely third in the Defensive Player of the Year voting.

But there was no swinging elbow of retaliation, no outburst at the officials, no sulking. As the Heat clobbered Charlotte 115-03 at AmericanAirlines Arena to capture Game 2 and take command with a 2-0 series lead, Whiteside stayed steady at the center of it with 17 points, 13 rebounds and two blocked shots.

“Aw, man, I wasn’t agitated,” Whiteside said with a grin as wide as his wingspan. “I was relaxed out there. Everything was great.

Actually ... I agree with some of this. (although I didn't think he was good before the 2nd foul)

didnt really watch the 2nd half of this game as i went out to watch the Cavs game- but from what i saw in the first half, the highlights, sportscenter etc. it looked like Miami played really well offensively at home again.

The Hornets hit one 3....1/16 from 3 for about 6%....while the Heat were 9/16 from 3 for 56%......Marvin Williams 0/10....if not for Al Jefferson's schooling of Hassan Whiteside in the post to the tune of 12/17--though Jefferson cant cover Whiteside either- well Jefferson cant really cover anyone- for like the last half decade...From what i watched in the first half it seemed to me that Dwade is really the catalyst with the drive and kick game a lot of the time and he played really well when i was watching anyway. Kemba walker taking 29 shots is a LOT--- but when your guys arent helping much i guess i cant blame him.

Clear that each team has an 8 man rotation...to anyone that can read a box score.

Had to look it up...

Lowest 3PT % in a playoff game all time (min 15 attempts)

1. Mavs go 1-18 in 2005
2. Thunder go 1-17 in 2011
2. Suns go 1-17 in 2003
4. Hornets go 1-16 in 2016

24 point difference right there. If Marvin Williams hits 4 shots- say 1 of them a 3....then the game would have been a lot more competitive-- instead he was 0/10....young playoff team on the road against an experienced group. Its why i picked both Miami and Atlanta round 1.

You do realize Whiteside wasn't guarding Jefferson for all of his points right. Amare spent quite a bit of time on him as well. Amare played 15 minutes and Jefferson was out there pretty much for all of those 15 minutes as well

Cavs go 20/38 for a playoff record- Hornets go 1/16.....

its a 3 pt league

ill bet that, if not the best, close to the best, indicator of winning in the playoffs is the team that shoots the 3 the best in that game...

I checked up on that. Last year in the playoffs...

Teams were 27 - 48 when they shot worse from 3 than their opponent. (At 6 - 5, Memphis was the only one with a winning record)

Teams were 56 - 37 when they shot better from 3 than their opponent. (Spurs at 3-4, Nets at 2-4 were only teams with losing record)

I feel bad for Batum.

The guy had a good year.

If he can't make it back, this is probably the last time we see him in a Hornets uni.

Here are my takeaways after 2 games.

Miami played it's 6 best consecutive quarters in their history to start this series.
Al Jefferson for his size has the best footwork in the history of ever. Whiteside is just going to foul it. Jefferson is just to insanely skilled offensively.
I feared Kemba Walker to much before this series.

Thing for Whiteside is, he will not face a better center than Jefferson from here on out, realistically. Good learning moment if anything.
