Are you watching ? Did you see him clock Zeller in the first 3 minutes with a forearm off the ball and it wasn't called ? Whiteside got away with one there -- refs gave him a gift.

Did you see the part where Zeller clearly flopped? No? I posted it.

72-60 at the half. Miami just matched Boston point total from last night.

43 points in the 2nd quarter

All of Walker's shots are coming off pick & roll with Whiteside. Do you really think he is a good pick & roll defender ?

Most of Charlotte's other points are posting Jefferson on Whiteside.

Whiteside is having a really good offsensive game -- but is he really the 3rd best defensive player in the NBA ? I'm not a Whiteside hater.

Just typical garbage from a national website who doesn't watch the Heat. No surprise there.

Yup ... below are the comments from a "national webside". They don't know anything. There is much better analysis on Sports SportsHoopla site from people like "bksballer89". Since they watch every game -- they know how good Whiteside defends the pick & roll. The "national webside" has no idea.

The way to increase those shots and the quality of those shots is putting Whiteside to work in an area of the floor he's not comfortable defending. There were several times in Game 1 that Charlotte made Whiteside defend a pick-and-roll on the perimeter and ended up with a great 3-point look. Whether they made them or missed them, these were the looks they needed to manufacture more often.

Whiteside can't defend the pick-and-roll well. The same goes for Amar'e Stoudemire. You see in the video above that Whiteside is dropped way back into the paint. Any decent screen by the Charlotte bigs on the play will result in a quality 3-point look coming off that pick. Whiteside is too slow to be able to react to taking away the shot and then recover to the paint where he's supposed to protect the rim.

You do realize this comment you posted wasn't the reason I said this right? It was another sentence in his article which basically been false since the end of December.

We know Whiteside isn't perfect, but he's still learning and is already an elite NBA center.

Miami looks really good. Looking like the team to beat in the East.

Loaded question.
I think he's the best at what he does. Rim protection.
Teams are forced to change their approach.

Perimeter D is totally different.
If Khawi had to switch and defend centers around the rim, would he be the best defender in the league?

But in the NBA, centers do have to guard the pick & roll. There is a reason why Charlotte runs the same play every time Whiteside is in the game. (this is why Bogut didn't get to play in the last 3 games in the finals -- and why Mozgov gets few minutes) The Spurs have already sat Timmy most of the game vs. the Warriors (Diaw!) because he is not longer great defending this.

If other teams could exploit Leonard -- they would do it. I haven't seen it.
