Tackle breaking machine. He did fumble getting caught up in the trash but from a couple other games I watched, he seems to protect the ball with both hands on most occasions.

Why is that Lionstop?

The only reason I could figure is if they are flat out in love with Riddick as a pass catching back.

I think he means Johnson will be a goner by the time our 2nd round pick comes up. He's a 1st round talent, but his position will likely push him into the 2nd round. Not far enough into the 2nd round, though, imo...

Yeah, hard to say. Only because the draft is deep at RB this year and each team might be looking for different things in a RB. Some teams might value shorter, stockier goal line back guys.

Gurley, Gordon, Abdullah, and maybe the kid from Boise are rated higher than Johnson. Plus that pushes Coleman further down.

Really anyone of that group gets to detroit in the second and I would be happy with them if thats the route they go.

What happened to Duke Johnson running a sub 4.4 40 yard dash? I'm thinking if he were who the Lions wanted -- he will be there in round 2.

Who said he was going to run sub 4.4?

My second round pick... Not a dream, just my wants. David Johnson of UNI.

I was looking at him today because of the sick numbers he put up at the combine. There might be a chance we could get him in the 3rd round?

Who said he was going to run sub 4.4?

Where did the quote button go? I thought that is what I was reading about this guy (on here), when they were talking about him possibly being taken by the Lions in the 1st round?

I wrote on another thread I believe, IF he runs a sub 4.4. He belongs in the 1st. I thought he would run 4.45-4.48. I was shocked to see the 4.6

I watched him play 3 games this year. He has great hands. Decent power and speed. So to me he can play 3 downs. Then at least maybe the 3rd and shorts are not as a a predictable to me. Riddick came in in that situation last year it was a no brainer. I would love to see Riddick involved on early downs.
I do believe he might be there in the 3rd round also. I rather just get him when he is there. No RB in first round last year prolly means late first early second round run on them this year.

He tends to remember things a bit differently than what was really was written. Not really sure why, but attempting to belittle other posters seems to bring him happiness. To each their own, I guess...

I don't think David Johnson makes it to the later parts of the 3rd with that combine performance. I'd be perfectly content with taking him with our 2nd round pick. He's a 3 down back with some size to him, those don'e come around all too often...

Have not seen his numbers or any combine besides OL/TE. I liked him from the eye test. When a RB gets over 250 in receiving in one game, I tend to take notice. I know it is against lesser competition. Bell seems to do alright... Better than 3 natty winning Tide players. Which is why I do not care about what school a kid is from.

He had very good numbers at the combine overall. Probably vaulted himself into the 3 to 5 spot for RBs, since Duke Johnson disappointed, and Coleman hurt his stock by not opting to work out.

I think Gordon is the 1st back off the board, followed by Gurley, then it's a crap-shoot after that. David Johnson could well be the 3rd back off the board.

I'm also doubting any backs go in the 1st round after the generally bad combine performances the group put up as a whole. Some guys (Da. Johnson) managed to help their stock, but two of the top 3 backs (Gordon, Coleman) didn't do themselves any favors this weekend.

Imo we'll see Gordon, Gurley, and Da. Johnson go in the 2nd round, then Coleman, Abdullah, and Du. Johnson in the 3rd round...

Gandy, David Johnson got those receiving yards in his 1st game of the 2014 season against, IOWA.

I've been talking about this kid for 5-6 weeks saying you should keep an eye out for him. It's possible for him to make it into the early portion of the 3rd round, IMO.
1). He comes from an FCS school
2). with the type of numbers he put up Saturday.....
David Johnson..Northern Iowa..6-1..224..4.50..4.50..1.57..25..41.5..10-7..9 5/8
I would have expected better numbers from him for his duration while at No. Iowa. Sometimes the smaller school prospects will have more question marks as to whether they can replicate that success against NFL defenses, JMO
