1.) Peyton Manning
Agreed. Peyton is the greatest of all time...
At choking.

1.) Peyton Manning
Who?
Blasphemy

Peyton 8 one and dones
Montana 4 Lombardi's
Doesn't the higher no# prevail?
At what point can I bring up Flacco?
Peyton had a chance to get rid of the choker stigma. I even said all season last year that if he win the SB (or even had a great game in the SB) he could get rid of that stigma, and Peyton fans all said that was fair. But just like in college, Peyton Manning is great when the pressure's off.
At least Rex Grossman was so absolutely atrocious that Peyton, even as great a choker as he is, couldn't choke his way out of that one ring.
If you Google the GOAT QB, it shows Montana as the best more so than not. So who's next in line?
Johnny Unitas was just voted on a large sports poll as #1 all time, but even though I am an avid Ravens fan and an old Colts fan, I have always maintained that Montana was the best ever and Johnny U was #2.......If Cravn sees this, I'm sure I'll hear from him about it....lol
1. Montana
2. Unitas
3. Marino
You mean that fan voting thing that had Russell Wilson beating out Peyton Manning, Drew Bledsoe beating out Steve Young, and Donovan McNabb making it to the Final Four? Because that's totally legitimate.
Well there's the top 100 players of all-time list done on the NFL channel. The top ten were:
Rice
Brown
Taylor
Montana
Payton
Unitas
White
Manning
Hutson
Butkus
Do you want to complain about that list as well???
Why would I complain about this list? This one was done by football analysts, not fans. Do you not see the difference?
The previous list that you were referencing was the result of fans being dumb, or just intentionally pumping up their own guy. This is why you ended up seeing the ridiculous results that I mentioned previously (Wilson over Manning, Bledsoe over Young, McNabb in the final four, etc). I don't know why anyone would try to pass off that list as a legitimate source.
Have to agree with this. Anything fan related when it comes to voting is going to be ridiculous. Look at 2008 when fans voted Kerry Collins to the Pro Bowl when he only threw 12 touchdowns and had a quarterback rating of like 80 or when Brett Favre got voted in with 22 touchdowns, 22 interceptions, and 11 fumbles. There are some fans that have a clue of what an actual good player looks like in a season but the average fan just votes for who they like or who is most popular.
My guess of why in the world would a 2nd year quarterback in Russell Wilson get voted over a future HOF quarterback like Manning is you had a combination of Seahawk fans mixed with Tom Brady fans who voted for Wilson over Manning.
Same thing with Bledsoe over Young in you just have more Patriot fans voting for their guy than who is actually the better quarterback.
Same thing happens on here whenever there is a poll. The larger fan bases on here are always going to make it difficult to get any idea of what should actually win the poll.
I'm pretty sure everything we are talking about is fan opinion, right??? As ridiculous as some parts of that poll were, it came down to Montana versus Unitas which is pretty much the most widely accepted 1-2 duo which is what this thread is about.
I'm not arguing that Montana and Unitas could be 1-2 when it comes to quarterbacks that have played. I'm saying that using something that is controlled by the fans voting usually doesn't end with the best results as there is more bias that goes into that than actual thought or research. Now sometimes the fans can get it right but can you honestly at this point say that McNabb of all quarterbacks deserved to be in the top 4?
Now yes everything on here is fan opinion so you can say what you want. Using other fans to back up your point though to me doesn't bode well for credibility of an argument. Your 2nd source was much better.
