The team is definitely better on paper than last year. The only worry I have is how are we going to get to the QB.
And how we are gonna stop Barkley from running us over again. We may score 35+/ game. Question is can we stop our opponents from scoring more. We lost Allen, Fowler and chinn and haven’t replaced them. I get the excitement about the draft and the offense and have no problem with the picks. But I see potential trouble brewing.

Did Allen really play last season? He is replaced by Newton.

Fowler is not really replaced but Fowler can’t stop the run.

Chinn was replaced by Will Harris who may be an upgrade from what I read.

Here's a Jacory Croskey-Merritt stat for Commanders fans

He had...

442 rushing yards
3 touchdowns
269 yards after contact
5.1 yards after contact/attempt
17 missed tackles forced
18 runs of 10+ yards

in just the final two games of the 2023 season

That extra year of not playing actually could save tread on the tires.

Not being a homer, just saying that the one positive from him not playing in 2024 is that it reduced the mileage on his body.

The shelf life of NFL RBs is like 3 years right?

Last years roster stunk so perhaps you are right
About the defense but Wise seems to be a guy who is good against the run as is Harris . Not enough but a start

I feel like they did a lot to be able to stop the run, at the expense of- perhaps - of building a hellacious pass rush.

They signed the former jet/niner Kinlaw - a big dude who is good at stopping the run and ok at rushing the passer

They signed the Falcons DT - Goldman - who also is a run stuffer.

They signed former patriot Dietrick Wise who a run stuffer

They also signed former Bear Jacob Martin for some pass rush, but I agree - they dont have much…

Not gonna lie. I noticed it too. Peters is a former Bruin. Word broke he wanted to draft that other UCLA linebacker, possibly in the first round.

I trust him, but I hope we are not entering a situation like Ron, where he grabbed every Panther he could find.

This is a big draft for Adam.

Not me speaking, but listening to local radio, there is a narrative out there with some that JD covered up the stench that was a bad draft class.

Got nothing from McCaffery and Sinnott. Coleman is being shuffled around. Hampton couldn't get on the field. Magee was hurt all year.

Hit a homerun with Sainristil and most considered 5 a no-brainer.

Again.....NOT ME SPEAKING.

These were just some of the takes I heard on Sheehan's show, post draft.

We got some run stoppers in Fa this year on the dline. Our secondary is better.

Knowing you aren’t speaking , my answer is we got to the nfc title game playing Coleman out of position . My next rebuttal is Hampton and Magge are 6th. And 5th round picks respectively, exactly what do you expect in year one ? Sinnot and Luke are legit concerns but no need for a panic button to be pushed

It's certainly possible, just as regressing is possible. Health and luck are a big part of a good season too in my eyes.

I initially thought comparing Jayden to Lamar was outrageous. But after seeing him play, i strongly have to believe he could have a strong sophomore campaign. Lamar got a MVP trophey with a great defense and hollywood brown in a tough division. As you mentioned health and luck are a big part.
I know he will have some games where defenses figure him out for the day, but i still can't get over how average our o-line and cornerbacks were and we were competitive every game. If Tunsil, Samuels, and Lattimore all perform at the level we expect, and we don't turn the ball over 800 times, maybe we can get Philly

Kind of a strange taken given most all of the DL signed in free agency were signed for their run stopping abiility. Fowler was not signed because he was a liability against the run and Chinn was replaced with comparable talent.

I've been one of the few to question that draft as well. I'll through Newton into the discussion too. He got plenyy of snaps and showed little. Too early to say but I remain concerned, good players usually show something in their rookie season.

A lot went right for us last year. Nabors and Smith had late game drops that should have turned wins into losses. But we are clearly better this season so it will be intersting to see.

I guess we will see if they are comparable talent or not. I hope you’re right, but I have my concerns.

Newton had one game where he was dominant and flashed in several others. He was the reason they were able to get rid of Allen. I don't think he should be included at all.

We also had drops and game changing miscues of our own. Cuts both ways.
