To me, McMillan is the only WR worth 12. There are 3-4 guys including Golden that would look good in the early 20s. It's like taking RB Hampton at 12, you're getting a good player at a position of need, but it's a reach on Golden IMOI keep trying to talk myself into wanting Golden at #12, because he just seems like the kind of guy the team is going to pick.
Golden played 3 seasons and I know you can't go by just stats in College:
2022 Hou: 38 Rec 584 yards
2023 Hou : 38 Rec 404 yards (injury ended season a little early)
2024 Tex: 58 Rec 987 yards
Last year he had only 2 what I would call "monster stat games" (both OT games) and more than half of his games he had under 70 yards receiving. The two monster games were of course in two of the biggest games of the season which is a good thing. But for a guy with such good speed (4.29 40 at the combine) at the College level you would have expected a little more. I also feel like if we took the things Dak was really good at and the things he wasn't as great at, that hitting a guy on a pure go route or a post or even a crossing pattern when a guy is at 100% top speed fall into the not as great category. I think that is part of why we have so many curls and the such. We don't know what Schotty's offense will be but I'm just not sure Golden is a good choice for us at 12. However, we do know Schotty will likely run a lot of PAP which Dak is great at and if we do have a good running game, a guy with Golden's speed on a PAP could be a huge weapon for us.
I see this as important because I still think it's extremely likely they take WR in round 1. I just can't get beyond McMillan as the very clear #1 choice and then Burden for me and then Golden and Egbuka as kind of even and up to the beholder. I still feel like if any of Burden, Golden or Egbuka are there in the 2nd round it would just be an incredible gift for us but I think all go in the first or at the latest, the early second. So, we either take the one we like or we probably miss on all 4
