make no mistake.
I personally dont want WR at 12.

Just some talk of all the WRs. thought I would throw that out there. (food for thought)
I'm just not that impressed with the Receivers in this draft. The top 4 likely are McMillan,Burden,Golden and Ebuka. None look like a receiver I want to draft 12th overall. Especially when the supposed top guy states he don't like football....there are guys I would rather draft at 12 than any of these 4. Yeah WR is a big need, but there are other players I like better. I would take Graham,Nolen,Harmon,Barron,Campbell,Warren or even Simmons before I draft one of these receivers. Yeah some got Nolen,Harmon and Simmons going later but IDGAF. Games are won in the trenches . Lol

I will admit I like Burden the best out of the receivers. If they go wideout I want Burden

funny
BUT IF TRUTH BE TOLD...

if it must be a pass catcher at 12, Warren makes sense.

The mizou tackle and Jeanty are the only two I've seen recently not trashed in someone's player evaluation.

Hahaha. Brother, I put the chances of the Cowboys taking Warren at .0001%. They have stated they are filling needs. DL, CB, RB and WR, that's where it will come from. And the guy I keeping saying the name of will never make it to 12 anyway IMO. But if he does, I hope whoever we take over him really fills that need in a great way, not a Mazi/Guyton way, because the player we passed on is gonna be a Hell of a great player lol

Brother, that's really been my argument. If they want a DT, CB or WR, I totally get it, if they want an OL, it's a good team building strategy. But if what they want is a #2 receiving option behind Lamb, i think Warren helps more than any WR in the draft, plus pairing him and Fergie would allow Dak to dictate run/pass against any front

Thought NFL network may provide info on Dallas workouts today, but no it is the 24hr Sanders show.

I won't bitch but, If it must be pass catcher at 12, give me Golden or Egbuka.

I understand drafting best player but at the top, maybe not so much when you know certain guys won't make it back around.

was Russell Maryland really the best player in that draft?

That's a fair point. For fun, I am in the Hoop draft, and I was hoping RB Henderson would be there in round 2, I love the player. Not only was Jeanty gone at 12, Hampton, Henderson and Kaleb Johnson were all gone as well. It made me rethink 12 a little. If Jeanty is gone and the Schotty really wants a bell cow back, Hampton at 12 wouldn't be the end of the world. While it's a deep RB class, those 4 are head and shoulders IMO

Some of the 30 visits for the Cowboys. Really good list. Interestingly though, the Cowboys only picked one of their 2024 30 visits, 7th rounder Nathan Thomas

RB - Jeanty, Hampton, Henderson, Judkins, Gordon, Martinez and Tuten
WR - McMillan, Egbuka, Burden and Savion Williams
OL - Kelvin Banks and Jonah Savaiinaea
DT - Walter Nolen and Alfred Collins
DE - Shemar Stewart
DB's - Shaavon Revel and Andrew Mukuba

I really don't disagree with you. Here is the thing though. If you are talking who you would take or who the team will take it is a different discussion. This team 100% drafts for need. That is a big part of why we end up with guys like Mazi and Trystan Hill and Taco. Look at what we have done this offseason. WR is a HUGE need and we have ignored it. IMO If there is a WR on the board that they like at #12 I think there is a very good chance they are taking him. "Dak friendly" never leaves their mind

I know it isn't sexy and I know it isn't likely, but if somehow Membou dropped to us and we took him I think we would be over the moon happy about it for the next decade.

^ Looks like we will be ignoring DT and the trenches overall for a few more years. Can work of course, but you need multiple superstars to do it or you just get pushed around like we have for a decade. If you have two Micahs or two CeeDees you can tear the other team apart "from the outside". On the plus side other than this perhaps meaning we don't take a RB it still leaves the positions that were always most likely to be taken at 12 in play: WR, Edge, OT, CB. So it may be more a later round impact for us. At least there is a plan which is a good start

My biggest hope with this draft in particular and the team in general right now is that Jerry gives Schotty and his staff a minimum of two years regardless of how this season goes. You went with him over other candidates who were both more experienced and also more considered "up and comers", so you need to give him the same chance you would have given them. He was handed a roster with some really talented players, but also with a lot of huge holes, a lot of misses and no real identity.

My point for tying this into the draft is that I hope Schotty doesn't feel the need to show results week 1 of year 1. That's the same loser mentality this team has had for decades and it gets you nowhere. We aren't winning a SB this year. Build us a team that can win one. This year and next years drafts should be seen as working together as one to build towards that goal. Build the team you want with the strengths you want. Don't just draft position x because we suck there. Draft it because the guy you pick is going to be someone who helps you achieve that goal in year 3, 4 or 5. In three years Micah and CeeDee will still be in their prime as will Tyler, Overshown, whichever CBs we keep and every draft pick in the next couple of years. Like every team if we hit on our draft picks we could be loaded in a few years with top end talent and hopefully also have filled all of our biggest weak spots. Make the plan a SB and stick to the plan. Don't worry about this season. I have no interest in making the playoffs and losing in week 1 or with some luck perhaps in week 2 for two or three of the next four years. Again, make the plan a SB and stick to the plan.
