The knee surgery thing bothers me about Johnson. We have taken too many chances on past injured players.

Hoffman plays with heart.. I agree with that . But like you say he struggles against the bigger defensive tackles. I would prefer they upgrade RG and keep Hoffman as a backup.

He would be excellent as a backup because you know he can come in and compete at both C and G

That is interesting. Skat is intriguing if we don't choose an RB in first or second. He is tough.

I would look to upgrade LT and RG, but I think we are going to pretty much stand pat. I do like Hoffman, but he struggles vs power. Scrappy kid though. Guyton is 50/50. He has the talent but is very immature and has a poor work ethic so the light will either go on for him or he will be a total bust at LT

They also could go after a new starting Center in FA and move Beebe to RG. There were times last season when I felt they were wasting his talent at Center. I kind of think Beebe could move to RG and dominate. I also will say I am excited that there will be new OL coaches.

I like Beebe at C. He has power. I would just put a 330 pound road grader like Tyler Booker at RG and leave Tyler Smith at LG and run right at people

The Cowboys could be serious contenders if they would spend the money and really try and bring in talent. They have the hardest parts to find, a good QB, a #1 receiver, a great pass rusher and a couple of good cornerbacks. The only premier spot they are weak at is LT. The things they need, a RB, a guard, another WR, a couple of run stuffing DT's, a thumper middle backer...none of those things are rare commodities, you can find any of those things in FA or the draft. The only thing holding us back is the Jones boys greed

I have a feeling it's going to be defense one way or another. A corner, maybe Green or Walker as an edge rusher. I think if they let Osa walk, DT comes into play bigtime

I think all you have to do to know where we are as a team is go to any of the mock drafts out there and run the simulations yourself. I'm only read up on guys projected through round 3, and since we don't have a 4th, I just run 3 round simulations. Even if you get 3 players you love, you'll end up thinking how much we could use 4-5 more top 100 picks. As @PDay8810 said, Broaddus thinks the best value of the draft is round 2-3, so for me, trading down for more picks has produced the drafts i was happiest with. I mean trade that 12th down to like 17-18 and then trade it again to the late 20's and end up with 4 day two picks instead of 2.

The biggest holes are obviously on the defense. Especially DT. If they want one then they would be smart to get one at 12. Yeah they could luck out and find one in round 2. The way I see it they are going to have to spend if they want to compete for even a WC spot.

The LB core is also a major issue. They got Liafua and nobody else.

As much as I want Jeanty I think the need is much more at DT. They need an impact DT and if they were smart they would draft two in the first three rounds.

Adding another top 50 or 100 pick might be the ticket the closer we get to April.

It's a tough call. Jeanty might be a bellcow star. But there are some good RB's that will be there round 2. If we resign Dowdle, we could wait till round 5 for a back. If not, we need it round 1-3 for sure

NFL GM: Draft has '5 blue-chip' prospects and 40 players graded 1st-2nd Round.

5 +40 = 45
looks good for pick 44.

the 5 blue chippers according to this GM.
Hunter, Abdul Carter, Graham, McMillan and Starks.
