To be fair, he had to choose between 2 former MVPs to pitch to, so he chose the one playing on a bum ankle and that gave him a lefty vs lefty matchup.

But you make a good point about creating a situation where a hit would win the game instead of just tying it.

What puts Gibsons HR ahead of this one is that the Dodgers were big underdogs to the As that year and after that HR Gibson didn't bat again but it gave the Dodgers hope that they could win it.
But it was still a great moment. Over a hundred years of baseball and the first grand slam to win a WS game.

Agree. That Dodgers team had no business even being in the playoffs, let alone the World Series. Might be the biggest upset in World Series history considering the talent disparity.

No the runners were on 2nd and 3rd already because of some new rule I have never heard of that says "When a fielder leaves the field of play all base runners move up 1 base. With guys on 2nd and 3rd and 2 outs, go ahead and walk the batter setting up a force at every base.

I heard that too but FOX showed the runners on 1st and 2nd still so i thought they just misspoke. If that was the case then I'm fine with the walk decision

I've been trying to find it again. Last night I saw a clip with the Gibson and Freeman homers played together next to each other. With Vin Sculley yelling "she is gone" and Joe Davis doing the same. The home runs were pretty much in the same spot. They took the same time to run the bases because of Freemans pause to watch it and the games ended within a minute of each other. I just don't remember where I saw it. lol Age.

Yamamoto Vrs Rodon tonight. Don;t know much about Rodon (maybe one of you does). Yamamoto was hurt during the season and came back and wasn't sharp . Has been hot and cold in the playoffs. The Yankees need this one more because starting pitching was supposed to favor the Yankees and if the Dodgers go up 2-0 against the Yankees top to starters without taxing the bullpen , it doesn't sound like a recipe for success because that allows the Dodgers better bullpen to be used effectively in games where they do bullpen games.

Not positive but it might be because that was about the time a fielder was going after a ball and he and it, ended up in the first row right behind the wall and apparently the fan had a ball he brought to the game and the player grabbed that one and threw it into play. Not 100% sure but pretty sure that was the reason.
Yeah, I'm full of useless information. lol
