Based on the Eagle game and nothing else, just the Eagle game.

The three QBs I'd keep are Maye, Milton and Zappe.

Brissett was horrible last night. He overthrew two simple sideline passes and completely botched a deep sideline throw. He's got it in his head that he's the starter and he's not putting in the effort. My guess is that he thinks that he'll turn the switch when everything counts.

Patriots are making mini-moves. They don't play until Sunday night. Expect to see multiple moves from now through August 27th.

Yes, August 27th. By 4:00 PM of this coming Tuesday, every NFL team must be at the maximum 53 Man roster limit.

Rumors abound that not a single team will be making mass early cuts. Vultures are circling every camp looking for OL and DBs. Patriots have been rumored to be the target of nearly every 2023 playoff team with trade offers. Supposedly, Elliot Wolfe has turned every offer for every player away and has reportedly told every team that he will not take fourth, fifth, sixth or seventh round picks if these teams need players as badly as it seems.

One never knows what is true or fantasy. If Wolfe is playing hardball as has been reported, I pray it's not fantasy.

Remember......53 man active roster and 16 man practice squads. That's 69 out of the 90 guys in camp today. And the 608 players that won't make an NFL roster anywhere.

Well...we're pretty high on the waiver wire.

Pro's and Con's to everything.

Right now, it's like listening to politicians talking about what they will do. They'll say anything to get every vote. Media is all over every move that's being made. More about teams that are having serious injury problems.

Dolphins head coach has been on several interviews over the past week and he's trying to defend owner Steve Ross's comments about the Dolphins being in the Super Bowl and winning in February 2025. They've lost two starting tackles in less than a week to knee injuries. Think anyone is going to help them out???

Patriots have a shitload of cap space since the release of JuJu. There was a lot of bitchin' about the Patriots not spending cash to build up the team under BB. There are not a lot of FA out there right now, but teams are going to have to make cuts and not every OT or WR or DE is going to be able to stick. Having money will really help if quality players do get cut.

Mayo stated " We don't have to spend it all in one year". You have to save cap monies for future contract too.

And don't forget, when you spend this year's cap money you also have to commit to spending cap money over the next few years too.

The easy way to think about cap spending is this. As long as you remain under the cap for this year, you will start next year under the cap and gain whatever is added to it. The problem is contracts that grow every year instead of shrinking.
Example. 4 year - $100M
Year 1 = $17M
Year 2 = $23M
Year 3 = $28M
Year 4 = $32M

The cap is expected to rise enough to cover future debt. Problem is that those kinds of contracts hamper future contracts. Guarantees can also kill a team's cap maneuverability.

Dead cap money is the most painful.

Yup!

  • NFL teams are allowed to roll over any unused cap space from one season to the next. Clubs must tell the league they plan to roll over cap space by 4 p.m. ET on the day after their regular-season finale. While the NFL has a salary cap, it also has a salary floor, so teams cannot hold onto money perpetually.

Released by thye Cardinals Tuesday. Bunch of teams need a Tackle. How about making him a real LT type offer??

How good can he really be? Offensive Tackles are the 2nd most valuable position on a team and he got released??? Are they that loaded at that position where it’s ok to just cut him? I don’t see him being any better than the turds we already have. I could be 100% wrong too.

Its a good point, how much better could he be. LT and OC are the two positions you have to have correct on that O Line

Daley isn't without his faults. He surrendered a league-high 12 sacks in 2022, ( his only good year!) and he's struggled with penalties, recording 14 total since the 2021 season.
