But with the mega-trade comes his mega-salary. That makes building out the rest of the team pretty difficult.
True but you have to pay to win. I can't see the Chargers doing this trade. NE has the capital to pay a proven player. They retained who they needed to and snagged a couple of decent additions. Put Herbert under center, and fill the other holes with the draft and NE could have a decent season.

The price you pay for a top 5 QB. Chiefs are paying how much for Mahomes and they have a competent team. It can be done.
Brissett is a good not great QB but with a lot of experience. He will be QB1 IMO and mentor what ever QB we take after we grab a WR or LT
And they've rewritten that contract every year to keep playing with the cap. His original contract was 10 years $545M.
