Now this rumor has my interest. I would jump on this deal in a heart beat. Then if MHJ is there at #5 maybe trade back and get additional picks? Sorry just don't like this kids attitude. Drop back and take Nabers or Odunze. Plus use whatever else they get in the trade to strengthen the Offense. Heck may even be able to snag Bowers and another OL.

Just saw that too. Hell yes I’d do that trade.

But with the mega-trade comes his mega-salary. That makes building out the rest of the team pretty difficult.

True but you have to pay to win. I can't see the Chargers doing this trade. NE has the capital to pay a proven player. They retained who they needed to and snagged a couple of decent additions. Put Herbert under center, and fill the other holes with the draft and NE could have a decent season.

I think worst in the league is well within our grasp. New HC, new Coordinators, just traded our QB1, no WR threats. I have no issues with being the worst.

The price you pay for a top 5 QB. Chiefs are paying how much for Mahomes and they have a competent team. It can be done.

Yep. It is what it is.. we were in a quiet a few close games last year. Hopefully these early draft picks help some and Brissett plays better than the chump duo we had.

Brissett is a good not great QB but with a lot of experience. He will be QB1 IMO and mentor what ever QB we take after we grab a WR or LT

And they've rewritten that contract every year to keep playing with the cap. His original contract was 10 years $545M.

Patrick MahomesQB$9,850,000$6,114,888$7,900,000-$1,000,000$12,143,381-($113,596,314)$37,008,26914.67
Joe ThuneyG$15,500,000$3,400,000--$500,000$7,571,713-($23,943,426)$26,971,71310.69

Between Mahomes and Thuney, they hold 25% of a $255M cap. BB would never have paid Thuney or any other non QB $27M. Hell he wouldn't pay Brady $25M.

On the other hand, Justin Herbert is easily affordable in 2024.

Justin HerbertQB$6,000,000$3,225,675-$10,120,000---($129,502,700)$19,345,6757.33

According to the NFL Network, Stephon Gilmore has talked with the Panthers and Patriots.

He supposedly wanted to resign with the Cowboys but son of owner Jerry Jones is trying to get Ezekiel Elliot to resign and has ignored Gilmore. So Gilmore lashed out on social media and is expected to sign somewhere else before the weekend id over. New England??

Yep. Teams are smart and can manipulate the salaries to make it work. They will pay the piper down the road. But oh well. Deal with it when it happens.

Just stop saying that.

I've proven too many times that this wrong. And when you know one thing and say another, it is not a mistake or oversight, it's a lie.

For the 2018 and 2019 seasons, Brady got a 2-year deal with a $41 million extension and a signing bonus of $28 million from the Patriots. With his deal set to expire at the end of the 2019 season, the Patriots offered him a deal for 1 year which was $23 million, and a signing bonus of $8 million.

$41 + $28 = $69 million for two years

What's affordable? $30M, $35M, $40M??? Is he worth it? How many AFCW titles? AFCCG?? Never been to the big one. He might be worth $30-$35M because he he might be able to get further than he has previously with better coaching and better surrounding support. Then again, will NE be able to provide that??

He offered Brady $18M because he knew that he was not going to stay in NE. Brady asked Kraft for 2/$50 guaranteed and BB said "NO".

Belichick's ego overruled his common sense. He wanted Brady gone and Brady wanted out. The only way he would have stayed would have been if Kraft fired Belichick. The fantasy had run it's 20 year story and neither wanted the other. Belichick proved he couldn't do it without Brady at the end and he nearly destroyed the franchise.
