MLB Network just had a discussion about Mauer and said his comp is Ernie Banks. Banks played very well at SS and finished his career as a 1B. Mauer won 3 batting championships, 3 gold gloves, 5 silver sluggers and an MVP as a catcher (in 10 seasons) and finished as a 1B. Jason Starks said he should be in because of his time behind the plate.

That's true of about a dozen players. At some point it's time to acknowledge it. Put it on the plaques.

I just think fans and writers should just give a blanket pardon cause it’s naive to think just the guys who the Mitchell report. I never read Canseco’s books but I’m sure there are HOF’s in there that he accused cause he accused two Mariners who’s play magically disappeared

I think Helton gets in, been up significantly every year and got to 72% last year

I think Mauer gets in eventually, comp is Ernie Banks who also switched positions for half his career

Wagner might too, been trending up like Helton, but running out of time

Wouldn't vote for Wagner, but I don't think he'd be an awful selection. I'd say he is the best of the relievers not in the HOF.

No one should get a vote until they figure out how to get all the high profiled PED guys in. They let Bagwell and Ortiz in so Bonds, Clemens, McGwire and Sosa should be in
