I think they're both kind of torched... Seattle has JSN though... and they want to run the ball and use 2-3 TE sets a lot. Kupp is one of the better blockers though. Either way they're not asking Kupp to be a #1. Course the draft is deep at wideout... so NWE can always snag someone in the 2nd. Travis Hunter I assume will play D. And anyone saying he can play WR... you're not marching him out there 100 snaps a game. He'll be dead by mid-season.

I think Hunter could play reduced snaps at WR and CB, depending on the needs of his new team. 3rd WR, 3rd/4th CB maybe? Let him establish himself at one main position and adjust from there? A team like the Browns might just put him at WR.

Kupp at 15 mil or problem child at 26 mil. No brainer to me.
Even if Kupp doesnt get the stats you want from him, he will help that team.

Diggs will become a detriment for his team. I didnt want him on my team no matter what the price honestly.

I year deal, and there is usually a grace period with Diggs. He can't be in that same headspace being such a late signing with the Patriots. As long as he gets his snaps and targets, he's going to be happy short term.

The worry with Kupp is his health. They were talking degenerative injury in his knee in 2023 and he doesn't get separation much any more.

Failing that DL, OT, WR, or QB. Some fans want a TE...or even a RB. S would be a low priority and low value decision. Under McVay the Rams have used high picks on needs rather than BPA, and S isn't a big need.

DL, OT, WR, TE and QB are all depth/future/rotational needs. Good position to be in and really go BPA. CB and LB are a bit more elevated, but ILB in the 1st seems rich. If the right CB isn't there (which would also be depth/rotational at this point), it could truly be BPA.

IMO you don't start a guy part time at CB and full time at WR. That just doesn't make sense. Playing corner is more difficult because you aren't controlling the tempo of the game on defense... And if you're a good enough corner, you are on the field EVERY snap. You don't see elite corners taking snaps off. You don't see elite WRs taking snaps off either, but it's easier to sub a WR in a package here and there, than DB. Witherspoon was brought in to help at nickel, but when he's not doing that he moves to the outside. He's on the field every snap lol.

He was also recruited as a corner, from my understanding and watching some tape, he's a better DB than a wideout.

Now that said there's a couple things to consider here. He said he would play both positions 100% snaps. Sorry but in the NFL that simply wont happen. Coaches aren't going to allow that because marching a guy out for 120 snaps, he'll be exhausted and just start getting torched. He said, "I'm just built different." Yah uh huh... so are the guys in the NFL... good luck with that mentality. Second, wide receivers are getting paid WAY more than DBs right now.

So he could push to play WR to be paid more... but I think his talent better suits him at DB.

Either way, you can do full time DB (let's say you have a D that can keep snap counts in the low 60s) and maybe 10 snaps or so on WR in some designed packages. That's about it. You can't really do full time WR and then sub in a guy on DB on certain packages for 10 snaps a game. That just gets a bit weird... and you're taking snaps away from a pure DB that would otherwise be a) fresh, b) working with the defense more often, and c) used to getting 30 snaps a game - that's prob. not helping.

I know Travis is a beast in COLLEGE... but swinging two positions doesn't make sense in the NFL. It works with Ohtani because the DH is a thing.. or maybe you teach him 1st base so he saves his arm.

Concrete Charlie back in the 50s was the last two way player doing Center and LBer... so it's not unheard of... I just don't see it working at WR/DB in the modern NFL... especially with the rosters and depth as large as it is now... and now a 17 game season... Hunter will be on IR in no time and become lackluster at both.

Summary TLDR: Best comparison I see is what Deion Sanders did in 1996... and that was ONE year of doing that kind of workload at WR.

I was suggesting part time at both positions and adjusting that to the team needs and/or where he proves his worth.

Feel good about the future of safety position, Lake was pretty good too

Corner and ILB are our biggest needs
I could see Rd1 CB but not ILB. Ben Morrison is a bit of a wildcard at CB and I thought about him because if he actually stays healthy and plays that way he should've been a top 15 pick. ILB is definitely not a rd1 thing.

The Rams have been so good at drafting lately that I just went BPA with Safety. In reality, they'll likely get a high quality player at the biggest position of need. Somehow.

Personally, I'd be happy with Starks. He could play nickel as well as safety IMO.

It;s basically a one year deal, pretty harmless and a decent risk play IMO.
I'd like to see them do a similar deal for T Tyron Smith. Bring him in for a year, let him mentor whoever NE drafts at LT.

Weirdly I think he is one of the toughest evaluations in the draft. Starks 3 cone is atrocious. His play speed is unmatched.

Eh.. I'd put him in training camp and maybe try him at both or identify his primary position right out of the gates. Maybe that's what you meant.

I think doing him part time at both in actual games to kick it off, will end up in disaster. And when Deion had the season where he did full time DB and quite a bit of WR, he was a good chunk of his career in. He didn't start that way. And he was doing DB full time.

30-40 snaps a game at both DB and WR bleh. I think you're just gonna get a mediocre player on both sides. You're going to have miscues because both sides of the ball aren't as familiar with him and the impact wont be as good. Better to have a full time WR or full time DB and have a very good or elite player at that position than a very good/elite player but only on 50% of the snaps on each side lol. Doesn't make sense.

Easier with DB full time and some packages at WR that the QB and the offense can adapt to more easily. You kind of would have to be a defensive mastermind to scheme packages where he could do WR full time and DB like 10-15 snaps (still a lot if the offense has 65+). You'd need someone like MacDonald or a defensive minded coach to be able to pull off packages that might work. Most teams are focusing on offensive coaches though, so scheming him into some offensive plays is prob. easier.

That 3 cone probably makes him a zone defense player?

I think you guys go CB before safety... I would be very surprised if they take Starks. Or you guys grab another OL (which you could use). I guess for LBer Campbell/Walker would be okay if they are there at your pick, but I don't think they will be.

What the hell is your problem? Please explain why you are booing me? Do you dislike who I have your team taking or something? It’s just a first mock draft, I’ll probably post another one closer to draft day, and I’m far from certain about any of it, I’m just speculating.

yes!
If we draft a WR at 12 we deserve to lose all the games we will be losing.

:becky:

Side note.
I think the 1st three players picked in whatever order will be 2 QBs & Carter. Whether from those three teams or from a trade. Those will be the 1st three players picked. IMHO.

Who would you draft at 12? If Jeanty was still on the board I think you guys would take him, but I don’t think he gets past the Raiders. The Cowboys don’t really have a #2 WR behind CeeDee, so I could see them taking a receiver at 12, but who knows at this point.
I’m pretty sure Ward goes to the Titans at 1 - what the Browns do is interesting, I think it’s between Sanders and Carter, if they choose Carter, I think the G-Men either take Shedeur or a team possibly trades up with them to get him, then again the Giants could take Hunter. I don’t think the Giants take Carter, they have a strong edge rushing unit already but plenty of other needs, I think it’s either Hunter, Sanders or a trade down for the G-Men. I think Carter either goes to the Browns or Pats. But again, I’m just speculating.
