The Rams traded for Dotson during training camp, sending 2024 fourth-round and 2025 fifth-round picks to the Pittsburgh Steelers for Dotson and 2024 fifth-round and 2025 sixth-round picks.

For a top 5 guard last year

He was with the Steelers up to 2022. He wasn't a full-time starter but he played enough snaps to qualify for the PPE slary boost. The Steelers didn't want to pay him that salary, (which is the equivalent of the original round RFA tag) to be their #6 OL for 2023. The Rams needed a RG so they traded a 2024 4th and a 2025 5th for Dotson plus a 2024 5th and a 2025 6th. The Steelers traded someone who immediately turned into a top OL in 2023 for peanuts.

The contract extension is in line with a top 5 OG and the Spotrac Market Value, but it's a huge contract for 1 year's performance. Many Rams fans were hoping for an extension at $13M per year or less. I don't hate it but i'm not in love with this signing.

Exactly.

Its crazy how many Viking fans want to go back to the days of Christian Ponder or Tavaris Jackson and blame Cousins for the VIking's ills the last 4 years when our defense over that 4 year period has been near the bottom of the league while our offense has been the only reason we have won any games during that period.

Our defense was at the bottom because we couldn't sign free agents and Spielman mostly ignored defense in the draft and if he didn't ignore it, he swung and missed.

If Kwesi and KOC screw up QB and we go back to the days of Ponder (another brilliant Spielman pick), Then they get fired and we start over with a top pick. Instead of constantly being in the middle with Kirk and unable to find a long-term solution.

Someone will get a hell of a guard. Would hate to see Teller go but it will clear up more cap space and give them more draft picks. Hope a mid-round pick
