Looks like the Kings have a 7 year deal on the table for Gavrikov.

Curious what the AAV would be, he's a bit overpaid on this contract at $5.875 million but Blake had to do that to not let two rentals (Korpisalo) walk out the door after includinga 1st but around $5 million is the going rate for shutdown defensemen. Roy was overpaid at $5.75 million because he was a UFA, but I bet Gavrikov is pushing for closer to that.

Seven years, ouch. If true I hope we don't start calling him Gavrislob by year 5.

Dont see LA getting anything but scraps if that. Read Jets offered their 1st for Nelson followed by TB offering their 1st and 2 other pieces but they then switched to a Seattle offer....can LA match or beat...barely, then you need to ask why bother. This is why missing on top picks and moving assets to mitigate bad contracts and signings really starts to hurt.

Been seeing similar. I think he can be more than just a shutdown guy, and flashed some offense when he first came over. But if his cap is as low as $5mil/year, I actually don't really mind the length as much. Rather be 6 years at $5.5, especially with cap going up. My fear is it'll be closer to $6+ mil/year and still be 7 years.

I just got an alert that says Rantenan said that he will not sign with the Kings if he gets traded here. Cant say I blame him. This is per the hockey news

WTF, This can't be good....." I just traded all of the king's draft picks, And anyone under twenty five For Ryan reaves"

I quit

I wonder if this losing streak was the last straw. Hoping team would show some life and bolster with a trade. Not much out there without breaking the bank. As you mentioned, "Why bother", which is sort of how I feel. Rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

I bet the move is to do nothing, then announce Blake and Kings going their separate ways.

Or, dude. He trades Doughty and Kopitar and anyone over 30 to contenders, and this is him fielding questions about it.

I was already sort of on the fence with this guy. Wondering is he was maybe propped up by Makar and Mackinnon, but his attitude and unwillingness to sign with now 3 teams, is really interesting to say the least. I would pass all day on anything to do with him. Carolina should just keep him and hope he's betting on himself to just have this insane playoff run for them.

Good lord please say that's so.

I don't think they'd be holding a media event though with him announcing his resignation though. But that would honestly be the best course for this franchise, do nothing, keep what they have, evaluate over the summer with a new GM and start a full rebuild.

In 8 years behind the wheel the Kings are no better than they were in 2017, if Blake any loyalty to this franchise that would be thw honorable thing to do.

Legend day!

The pick that led to all the Kings problems. was picked to be Kings 2c and couldnt get healthy. He's finally match the most games he has ever played in 1 season at any level. If any pick can show you what can happen to an organization just follow the dots on this one. Good for him finally lasting this long in a season, gotta think 2 weeks off for the nation thing really helped him.

Nelson to the Avs lol

Yup, heard that one was coming. There literally is nothing available that will make a difference, it's just best for Blake to put his phone down and accept the fate of this roster he constructed (extremely poorly) and how his poor asset management finally bit his ass bad.

Interesting read on this one and spot on. Were it not for the defensive structure of the Kings, they wouldn't even be sniffing a PO spot right now. This all falls on Bowlby, 8 years of futility and failure.
