Zegras suspended 3 games for this hit on Rasmussen*, what a dick hit. That guy's claim to fame is over when he was on the cover of the NHL game, otherwise he's a bust.
Keep doing the Michigans bro, you belong in a beer league.
Rantanen becoming an even worse debacle than PLG, but Canes have good leadership, they will get a value trade out of it....or I will be shocked
His numbers aren't good for sure, but I've watched a few games and he has been all over the net. He hasn't looked any different than he did in Colorado, biggest drop in his numbers has been shooting percentage, it's been cut in half since the trade.
Kind of the inverse of Buster, getting all these gimme points and thinking he's doing great and Rantanen not scoring so therefore he isn't a good fit, not playing well, whatever. Eye test always tells the truth no matter what the numbers or analytics say.
Canes have reportedly made a substantial offer, between $13-14 million a season. I never thought we'd see the day of something like that happening, the starting cap in 2005-06 was $39 million. Now some dude is going to make half/a third of that in a season.
Trade Alert:
Kings trade F Tyler Madden to Minnesota for D Joseph Cecconi.
Minor league players. Madden was probably never going to make it above AHL, listed as weighing 170 lbs. Frustrating issue is that Madden was component of Toffoli trade, although the draft picks were the bigger acquisition (2nd Rd in 2022), which I'm sure Blake burned for something else, or was used for #51 Jack Hughes, whom the Kings are unlikely to offer a contract to when done with NCAA.
Cecconi was a 5th Rd pick in 2015, right shot D, 6'3" 215 lbs. Has bounced around the AHL a little. Not expecting much....
More excellent asset "management" by Blake...

Copley assigned to AHL early Feb. Would you consider bringing him back over Rittich?
I read an article saying if Carolina does decide to trade Rantanen, Kings were thrown into that mix, and this article floated Rittich as a small part of a larger deal because their goaltending has been so bad, that (per this article) even Rittich would be a serviceable as an upgrade. Feels more than expendable to me. I don't honestly know what a package for Rantanen would even look like. Usually it's 4 pieces.
Brandt Clarke, Trevor Moore, 1st round pick, Rittich, and maybe something else. Saw Turcotte's name thrown in there.
Really outside of Kempe I dont see anything the Kings have that Canes would want. Clarke isnt worth anything, Turcott has lost any value, Big save Dave isnt going to be sought after by any team with a healthy starting G...he will be looked at as a product of team D, not a G that elevates the club. TOTM, will cost you to trade him. The 1st, sure its ok but most likely closer to a 2nd than a good prospect. Canes need to win now, thats why they got Rantanen....Kempe + is all they could want imo and thats doubtfully enough
And just like that im hearing Buster is in play!? This cant be true, can it??
While I think Rantanen is the better player, I really like what Kempe has turned into and would be disappointed if he was traded even for Mikko. I think most of us hope Kempe is the Kings C for the next 6-8 seasons.
Found this, looks like Kypreos started the chatter but in the article too is the guy I was referring to saying Buster isn't available.

Breaking Down An NHL Insider’s Claim That Byfield Could Be Traded
Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos speculates that the Kings could use Byfield as a trade chip to get over the playoff hump against Edmonton. Could there be any truth to this?thehockeynews.com
Again though, probably an intern writing at THN.
