There is no way the Vikes could afford Cooks unless they dont plan on fielding a defense this coming season (what's the difference after last season right?!?).

His salary heading into this season is $18M and is fully guaranteed. And considering he is going to be on the wrong side of 30 before next year ends, I cant imagine any of those teams really wanting to re-negotiate his contract (unless he is will to take a cut) when the starting point in negotiations starts at that high of a cost.

This is one of those rumored deals that is leaked by the team hoping to trade him in an effort to generate interest. At that contract, he is probably a near negative asset.

Cooks is a good player, but he's not an $18M player. I don't understand what the Texans were doing when they offered that deal.

They have been a hot mess for some time now. They are in Jacksonville territory of having to be the highest bidder by a large margin to get guys to come there or stay there.

Hell, even Watson, before all of his problems came to light started to force his way out 7 months after signing his big extension (although that could have been because he knew the shit was going to hit the fan).

The logical way out of it would be lots of players on rookie contracts and young coaches.

That seems to be the way that they are going by hiring Ryans. Who better to relate to young players than a guy who is still young himself, was a great player and has proven he can coach defense? They have a lot of holes, but they can turn it around if they find their QB.

That's always is kind of the case.

Last years best was Christian Kirk and Allen Robinson. The year before it was Golladay and Corey Davis. Year before that Emmanuel Sanders and Robbie Anderson.

This is why you draft your WR's. Free agent market isn't a place you should be shopping for one because you rarely are going to find a quality buy.

Kirk paid off handsomely for the Jags.

That seems high, but soon that will be half price of the top guys.

I agree the cap goes up and up but not 500M in three years.

Besides...the problem seems distribution as the cap grows. Might become USFL like too.

Tyreek is already at a $30M average. Jefferson will easily top that when eligible, along with Chase, maybe Amon-Ra and Lamb, etc.

Hill signed for $72.75M over 3 years. The rest is likely just for show.
